  1. Your should be able to run through most running pains and cramps on a long race, make sure you do plenty of stretching beforehand, minimum of 15 minutes reduces the chances of getting these and injuries, also make sure you are getting enough salt to reduce the chances of ctamps mid race, if worse come to worst, walk of the cramp whilst stretching the muscle as long as possible to resume the blood flow to normal

  2. a agree with above (where he go?:O), but I have foung that if you take short quick breathss when i get cramps that they will go away after a bit

  3. Biggs.  How about more information?  How long have you been running, is this a new phenomenon or has it been ongoing?  What have you tried, with what success?  What is your weekly routine?  Stretching / warmup before /after running?  What about your diet and fluid intake both before, during, after?  Nutritional supplements? Any other medical issues?  Check up lately?  Other stressors in your life (how's your mental / emotional state)?

I found that as I got older, issues crept in, and have needed to take additional precautions.  I have found certain herbs to be of great benefit.

Sorry for all of the questions.  It's how I operate.  Does asking you these questions help at all?

  4. you just have to work at it and pace yourself better also take a look at what you eat/drink prior to the race as that can play a big role in gettig cramps.  during the race don;t take in alot of fluids if you can help it basically rinse and spit and pour over head (If is a long distance race) which I am guessing it is.

  5. i dont know about stoping them in the middle of a race but i know u can prevent them before the race. you should drink a bottle or 2 or water 1-1.5 hours before you start. also streching will help too. if you have a cramp before the race the best you can do is drink water as long as its not too much and not very close to the beggening of the race. walking around for as long as you can helps take away the cramp.  and if you eat lots of food it will most make you have a cramp but even smaller amounts can trigger it too. you wont get cramps if you just drink plenty of water and dont eat before the race
