Question:

Running particular speakers off this amp...RMS and amp controls?

I have Polk Component 6 1/2s and 6x9s (100 RMS both) running off an Alpine MRP-F450 so they are receiving about 70 RMS...When it is turned up to around 45 which is not often it doesn't sound as good...I know I can't be over powering the speakers but can I adjust the gain and those amp sound settings to make it more crisp and no distortion...Also Could I run a stronger amp something like 95 RMS or is that too powerful...I mean can the Polks handle it

Also I have it hooked up RCAs one side of car with power and remote other to eliminate any static...When no song is playing there is some static I think mostly in the tweeters...Is this bad and how can it be fixed...

Any suggestions would be much appreciated

  1. its not your speakers or your amp its you head unit sending a bad (clipping) signal to you amp at that volume. you can

    A. not turn it up that high

    B. buy a new head unit and still have the same thing happen at a different volume

    C. get a line driver that will increase the signal to your amps at a lower volume and still not turn it up to 45
