Question:

Running??????

I'm going to start getting ready for football (soccer) soon, and I'm going to start running to keep in shape. But the thing is, whenever I run for a little bit, my side starts to hurt bad. Will this get better the more I run? And I've heard that when this happens, you should just stop, or should I keep on running..

Thanks.

  1. i think you are breathing by your mouth and not nose

    when you are running

you should always breath by your nose and exale by mouth or nose i think :P but always inhale by nose

    and also stretch

  2. well if you eat 2 hours before you run you have more chances of cramps i will moderate your food carefully and it will go away don't stop training and stretch the side that hurts after your run softly.

  3. This is probably happening b/c you are not stretching well enough. You should stretch from 15-20 minutes before running. If it still happens try running through the pain. Another cause could also be your breathing. Make sure you have control of your breathing not having control strains your lungs and abs. try taking big breahs and holding them for a couple of seconds too. This should definately stop the side pains. If they're still happening go see your doctor it could be signs of something more serious but more often than not, you didn't stretch. Just run through it, or if it gets horrible stop and stretch.

    Hope I helped

  4. You need to stretch that area before running.  If it keeps happening keep running but put your hands on your head, this will stretch the muscles that are cramping.

  5. it will get better as you build up stamina.instead of stopping, try walking until the pain stops and then run some more.carry some water(room temp) with you.

    good luck

  6. the previous answers are pretty much dead on, but I wanted to add a little bit. Do not stop running, because you can cramp up worse, which is really bad for you. Slow down a little bit and focus on taking deep breaths. Do not hold your breath, and drink a little bit of water. Do not overhydrate yourself.
