Running shoe with software?

Question

Has anyone heard of this? I worked with someone once who said that they had a running shoe with software in it to tell you how far/long etc. your run was.

Did you find that it was useful? I'm looking for a birthday gift for my guy who's an avid race runner...

the Nike Plus does that. its a shoe and a "thingy". u put the "thingy" in your Nike+ shoe and it logs all sorts of info. pretty cool.

Don't waste your money on some gimmick that has nothing to do with the quality of the shoe.
