Question:

Running shoes & Music?

Two things I could use some help with:

1.) I'm having a hard time finding the right kind of shoe, even with the aid of countless shoe/foot finders. Here's the deal: I have flat feet and overpronate. This would mean I need a shoe with good motion control and straight last (stability). However, most of the shoes I've come across that provide that kind of support are usually tailored for heavy people, so the shoes are heavy themselves. I'm small to average sized, so heavy shoes can get quite uncomfortable. Any suggestions? (I've heard Asics are good, but I can't really find any for these specs)

2.) Music! I need a music player for running, relatively cheap. I say cheap because I already have the Gigabeat, but because of its size I would never go running with it. This one would just be for exercising.

I appreciate all your help, in advance :o).

  1. Rebok are extremely nice running shoes. Personally I use the brand Mizuno. It feels like you are running on a cloud! They are extremely lightweight, and I have seen MANY differnt styles. Unfortunatly they are quite expensive. For music, try and older style of iPod so that way they are cheap. The problem with iPods are that the headphones can fall out of your ears quite easily. I suggest new headphones if you are to try the older styles of iPod. Also just to help you run better. Try running to songs with a steady beat. Bleed It Out by Linkin Park is a good one FYI.

  2. i only buy running shoes, and the ones i run in are reebok. they are great and they feel light on your feet.  as far as a music player, ive always used an ipod, sorry i cant help you there. music does help when you run, it keeps you motivated.

  3. The best you can do is find a store that specialises in running shoes. They are the ones who can best help you. As for the music, an ipod shuffle works really well because it can cling on to our clothes so you are free to pump your hands. The biggest problem for me is getting earphones that don't constantly fall out of my ear. Get some earphones that secure themselves on your ear & wont fall off easily.
