  1. You dont need speed workouts, its XC season


  2. If you're trying to measure your speed, short distances (half a mile or even less) are better, and can help you learn how to throw all your energy into that one dash. If you want to up your endurance, though, (and improve cardiovascular health) you'll need to go for a much longer run, and work your way up, starting with one mile and gradually adding distance. Fit young women can run four miles for a good workout, while men can go much further. The most important thing is to take care not too push yourself too hard, though.

  3. excellent to incorporate 1/2 mile intervals

    depending on events mix in some 400s + 1500s too

  4. at least a mile ( 4 laps of athletic track)
