  1. I don't know if anyone suggested this, but if you have one of those cylinders that go up and down on the pole, make sure it's full by holding it under the (toilet) water for a few seconds.

  2. Save your self some time and buy the one piece Replacement Tank Kit for inside the toilet tank.  It is a few bucks cheaper to try replacing the $2.00 seal or the $3.00 toiletbowl flapper, but with the price of gas go with option A.

  3. Jiggle handle. If nothing, lift off tank lid...check floatation ballon...perhaps add water. Flush. See if this can work...probably leaky valve or the chain slipped off arm pf balloon lever. Also, if nothing else, add a brick to tank to keep water level slightly higher...Happy flushing!!!But go easy. That's a lot of water-1.6 and up per flush. 10-15 flushes a day, the water adds up and water scarce in parts of this world...

  4. turn the water off from underneath! the k**b under the toilet.

  5. You have to catch it first..........

  6. Take the tank lid off and see if the chain came undone.

The handle could be sticking, too.

If the inside looks broken, you can buy a replacement part cheap at home depot.

There is no reason to call a plumber for a running toilet, since all the parts are visible in the tank.

  7. Be sure the flapper is closing down securely.  You may need to lengthen the chain a link.   Sometimes a link from a too long chain gets under the flapper and allows it to keep running.

  8. Also check the flapper.  If it is not making good contact, it will cause water to leak from the tank.  A quick temporary fix for this is to rub some vaseline around the bottom of the flapper.  If this stops the leak, run out and buy a new flapper and replace.  It should only be a few dollars at your local hardware store.

  9. Check the float valve, make sure it is returning to the up position all the way.
