  1. 33.39 is an okay time. To get better just run more and practice hard. For sprints you should probably do some exercises mainly for your calves but for you thighs as well. Try doing wall sits -- just put your back on a wall and sit like you would on a chair but keep your legs at a 90 degree angle and use the muscles in your legs to hold your self up. Do that for as long as your can. Also try walking on your tippie toes when you are just walking around the house. Stand on one leg and lift yourself up on your toes and down again but not letting your heel touch the ground. In practice, don't sandbag the running exercises your coach gives you, you are only cheating yourself when you do that so work hard. If you don't already, really pump your arms to help you. If you are really interested in track I would recommend spikes, they provide a lot better traction than regular running shoes. But don't forget to take them off right after you are done running, they don't give a lot of arch support and cant make your feet hurt really bad if you are just walking around in them between events. (This used to happen to me all the time and it killed my performance.) Start off on blocks too they really help you get a great start off. I do these things and when I ran the 200 my time was 29.6 seconds.

Good luck! Hope you get better!

  2. it depends... how old r u? and how much experience do u hav with runnin? and it really isnt that long of a race so i dont think endurance is really 2 big of a deal. i've improved my time about 1.1 this season from 27.5 to 26.4. To improve I pretty much just worked harder in practice and worked on blocks.

  3. Yes, you should be able to get faster. There is always room for improvement. If your endurance is good you might be better at longer events. You should ask your coach about trying a 400. If you keep up that 33 second pace consistently you can get a great time in the 400. My coach usually has me do about 10 or 12, 400 metter repeats. If you like the 200 meters and you still want to do that, then you just have to set your sights on the person ahead of you and try your best to stay with them. Hard work and practice will make you better.

  4. eh, its a decent time. A good time would be around 29. How do you get faster? You run, do speed intervals. Endurance isn't a huge issue with a 200 meter run...wearing running FLATS also helps, especially with spikes

  5. I dont think that is really good- my 200 splits for the 400 and 800 are faster. Try adding some 200s and 300s in at the end of your practice to get faster.
