  1. Exercising is good for you. However, running two hours and only eating once a day is unhealthy.  A normal runner eats a healthy and balanced diet and isn't obsessed about weight.  The girl who posted the question is unfortunately suffering from anorexia and needs some help.

My apologies to the asker.  To clarify, when I refer to the girl, I mean the one in the link not the asker.

  2. 2 words: NO WAY!

  3. too much runing without water

  4. running is healthy. not eating any food is unhealthy.

  5. Is running unhealthy? My hip, which will need to be replaced by the time I'm 50, thinks so. Any and ALL health benefits are achieved from doing no more than 30 minutes a few times a week. Do no more than that (I wish I hadn't!) or better yet, walk for your fitness and lift some weights. You'll be much better off if you do that and will be much less likely to need orthopedic surgery in the future.

  6. She's talking a load of c**p.

The only thing that's bad about it is that it can be hard on your joints. But if you wear proper running shoe this shouldn't be an issue.

    Well, it depends.

***Running is unhealthy - it hurts you - if

-you are running extensively to become excessively thin

-you have bone deterioration disorders where running would worsen the condition, possibly quicken the deterioration

-you already have running or other sports related muscle / tendon / ligament injuries, and the running motion worsens the tissue injuries

-you live your life around running.  Though some may think otherwise all the time, and many may think otherwise some of the time, it really is not the center of the world.

-you use it to escape and not confront life's issues - self-esteem, relationships, responsibilities.

***However, running is healthy - it helps you - if -

-under doctor's care, you seek to lose a small amount to a large amount of unnecessary body weight (mostly fat)

-you use it to contend with daily stress

-you use it to increase clarity of mind, productivity on the job, performance in the classroom

-you run to avoid or minimize a large number of ailments (perhaps even some cancers) across the length of your life

-through running you seek to improve your performance in other sports

-through running you make good friends, and gain opportunities to help others

What would you use running for?  Any of the above?  Is it healthy - or unhealthy - for you?
