  1. sorry hun =( i was sick while doing lifeguard certification..it didn't get better until i got better.

i don't think it will physically disable you to do your best..you just wont feel as up to it if anything

all i can say is the usual..lot's of water..tea with honey..garggle some hot water w/ salt and vinegar (good for the soar throat)

good luck on your races! just think how proud u'll be once it's all over and u did ur best!

  2. it might slow you down but not too much... just talk to your coach about it

  3. Like the guy above me said..If it's not that bad, chances is, it'll go away as you're running.

That's what happens when I'm slighty coldish, I feel like c**p after the run though.

  4. Start taking mega doses of Vitamin C, getting extra sleep and gargling warm salt water several times a day. Avoid over the counter cold remedies; too many side effects. Drink hot water with lemon and honey in and do light stretching to keep your muscles strong and in shape. If your nasal and head congestion are severe, try a saline rinse - NOT the kind that come in a spray; the kind you need comes in a kit; plastic bottle, saline packets, instructions on use. Those work wonders - never share yours with anyone.  After each of your races, change immediately into a dry sweatshirt (hood on), and sweat pants. If your only option is to put them over your racing clothes, OK; if you have a place to change, do that instead.   Good luck!

  5. I have found that when I run, even when I am very sick, my body clears up and I don't feel it at all while I race

  6. Well since its the spring you may not think you have allergies but there is a lot of pollen in the air and a lot of people get like that in the spring time, especially me. Try taking claritin or something, it might help. and i don't think it will affect your performance too much as long as you put it out of your head while your running and just focus on your race.

  7. take a break! you dont want to get any more sick! I did that and i threw up after my race...and i never throw up before or after a race.
