Running with one earphone?

Question

As long as I alternate the ear would it be pretty safe? I just dont want to not be fully aware of my sorroundings but I don't want to run without music so I thought about just putting one in. Why hasn't anyone invented earphones for just one ear? lol

The first transistor radios had earphones that only had one earpiece.  I know you are just kidding around, but if you seriously want one, they are available - Radio Shack makes them as well as other companies that have assisted listening devices - Gentner, Listen, Sennheiser...

Why not? I do that all the time because I want to be able to hear cars behind me. Have fun running. =]
