Rupinder Singh defeats Shreyansh Jaiswal in semi-final of All India Junior Ranking Tournament
India’s passionate shuttler, Rupinder Singh displayed his wonderful skills in the Boy’s Singles U-17 semi-final match as he defeated Shreyansh Jaiswal at the 2011 All India Junior Ranking Tournament, in India, on Thursday, October 6.
Rupinder played terrific badminton and powered his way into the final by winning against Shreyansh in a wonderful three-set battle which ended in 51 minutes. Both players entertained the crowd with their incredible skills in the court.
In the opening points of the first set, both boys played to their maximum speed to get an advantage but no one could manage it until the end of the opening half. Shreyansh managed to play some winning shots to set up a decent gap of 11-8.
After the break, Rupinder played attacking badminton but failed to bridge the gap as his rival was going far ahead. His negative strokes cost him the opening game with a 15-21 score in 16 minutes.
In the second game, Rupinder entered into the court with a different mood and played fast and attacking badminton which helped him in setting up an early lead. He continued playing positive badminton which put pressure on Shreyansh. Rupinder bagged the game
by a margin of 21-16 in 17 minutes.
The third game was a nail-biting fight in which both boys employed every skill to win the game. They were playing at their best and kept the pace of the rallies at the highest level. No one could manage a comfortable lead until the break where Rupinder was
one-point ahead by reaching at 11-10.
In the second part of the third game, the crowd could not have asked for a more attacking game as both shuttlers were employing jumping smashes. At the ending points, Rupinder played convincing badminton by employing safe strokes and remained successful
in winning the game by a 21-18 score on the board, in 18 minutes.
The ending score of this match was 15-21, 21-16 and 21-18. In the final, Rupinder is set to fight against Arun George, who tamed Sanyam Shukla in straight games in the other semi-final.
