Question:

Rural Aussies..I would like your opinions/experiences in buying 'Queenslander' Homes? The portable ones?

We live in Far North Coast NSW..Rural properties are...Too Much..so we were thinking about putting the house on a suitable site..everything in place..etc etc..We would be grateful if you could tell us any horror stories or great successes..We don't have a lot of cash and we're not getting any younger but we have spirit.Thanking You.

  1. I live in QLD and people I know who have houses like the ones you described are well suited to the Queensland weather but the weather in NSW is different so you may find it colder in winter. I have no experience but hey, it is worth a shot if you are game.


  2. Those houses tend to be falling apart at the seams thats why people got rid of them in the first place. If you to go ahead have a good amount of money in the bank for a possible major overhaul(roof, interior walls,weatherboards,floors,wiring,paint,... etc....) as not all problems will be spoted when they are sitting in the yard.

    One thing to keep in mind too is that wiring up mains power and droping in some pipes in the ground is the cheap part. Getting the house to a standard will be the expensive.
