Russ Martin Arrested (live 105.3 Dallas)?

anyone know any other information other than whats on Fox 4's website on why Russ was arrested in Southlake?

Here are the facts:  

It's not a hoax, regardless of how many news outlets are reporting it.  

Who was assaulted has not been released.

If he is guilty, or it even looks like he's guilty, that could be the end of the Russ Martin show.

Russ IS an ego maniac, Russ IS a jerk, Russ THINKS he's holier than thou. When his wallet was lost or stolen & he had to pay cash for everything...what a rude awakening that was. Having said that, Russ does a LOT of good for charities & somewhere in that gruff pea brain of his, is a heart of gold. When people try to thank him...he's extremely humble. He had the shrink on the show for a reason...as he has Everett the atty. on there for a reason as well. Russ admitted just last week, he thinks he's suffering from depression & is taking Welbutrin.

Who KNOWS what's show & who the REAL Russ is? His on air persona SELLS BIG! The guy you love to hate. This whole story could be anything...maybe he assaulted Larry North himself because he didn't have any Fountain of Youth tonic for him? I'm not shocked that the SPD is so tight lipped, with all the money Russ's Foundation gives the police. But IF he really did get arrested, it must be bad for then not to turn the other cheek.

Can you hear that noise?  That is the sound of a 26 year career flushing down the toilet.  

If there is physical evidence as the affidavit says (bruises, abrasions, pulled out hair, a recording of the incident), then he is going to have a hard time disputing it.

As far as a "radio bit", if it is, it would be the muther bit of all time. However, for it to go this far, would have tremendous backlash.  If the police were in on it, and a signed warrant by a judge, some people would lose their jobs over participating, not to mention baiting the media, and the station itself would never approve.  The advertisers will start dropping like flies.

More likely, he was drunk, or on meds, or both and blew a fuse and beat the c**p out of a 90 lb girl.  I don't want to believe it, but if the evidence is there, then I can't wait to hear the other side of the story.  You may have actually blown it this time Martin.  If it were my daughter, I would tell the police to get my cell ready.

First of all, the person who said let the legal system do it's thing, everyone is innocent until proven guilty, oh you mean like the way it took care of O.J. Simpson? That worked out real well, you are right, NOT!!!!!

Anyway, I read in the Star Telegram, that he was at a gym where the assault with a deadly weapon involving bodily injury occurred. One person was injured, they don’t say who and they have not released that info. So who knows if it was Amy, NOBODY DOES!!!!

Man the rumors just are flying.  First he arrested by police, and now the FBI might have been involved.  I heard it was the CIA.  LOL.  

To put a twist on all these comments someone may have known who Russ was might have been looking for a pay check too.  Look how sue happy people are these days.  If no one saw the event then it's Russ's story versus their story.  They can use his in on air personality against him to seek legal action in a civil case.  

Just FYI my brother's ex wife is/was constantly calling the police saying he assaulted her.  For all the time she's called and he has had witnesses and alibies but yet nothing legally has been done to here for filing false police reports.   It’s all fun and games to the sheriff department show up at your work to arrest you for some B.S.

Let's see- a dj on a sinking station who has a history of drinking and 'preying' on much younger women....what a man!  He has problems with the IRS and depends on a 20-something girlfriend to deal with such a critical situation? Makes tons of sense!  Guess he won't miss living in his $ 1.5 million dollar mansion all ALONE.....  roflmao

Authorities say Dallas-area radio personality Russ Martin is out of jail after being arrested on an assault charge Friday.

Martin, 47, is host of the popular "Russ Martin Show" on Live 105.3, KLLI-FM. David Henry, the station's general manager, said while Martin was off on Monday, he will be back on the air Tuesday at 3:15 p.m. He would not comment further on the incident.

The arrest warrant affidavit says Martin and his fiancé got into a verbal altercation at his Southlake house that quickly turned violent.Martin grabbed his 27-year-old fiancé "by the hair and threw her around a room in the house," according to the affidavit  It also says Martin pulled out "chunks of hair" from his fiancé's head.

He then kicked her full force in the thigh leaving a bruise on the woman's thigh, it says.  The affidavit says Martin then pulled out a pistol from behind his back, ****** it and then started pacing around the victim to "intimidate" her.

It does not say that Martin pointed the gun at the woman.

The woman reported the incident on Saturday. Southlake police found bruises on her body that backed up her story.  They also found missing hair from her head.  

Martin was taken into custody Friday morning at the Larry North Fitness Center and charged with aggravated assault with bodily injuries with a deadly weapon.

A spokesman at the Keller Jail, where Southlake houses its arrestees, says Martin was released after posting a $10,000 bond. Martin has no previous arrest history with the Southlake Police.

After posting bond, the judge issued an emergency protective order on behalf of the victim, preventing Martin from coming within 200 yards of her for the next two months.

Martin has worked in Dallas radio for 26 years, according to the station's Web site.

EASY....Once an arrest warrant / affidavit has been executed, it becomes public information.  All you have to do is go to Southlake PD and file an Open Records Request (assuming that SPD was the agency who obtained the affidavit of probable cause.  I don't know how long the PD could withhold the request, but eventually you can get the details.  An agency can challenge an Open Records Request (ORR) with the AG's office, especially when the investigation is ongoing.  I just hope Russ continues to support area police/fire.  Hang in there Russ!  There are many officers that support you.

Some peoples answers are rediculous! He was arrested at Larry North fitness in Southlake. He is accused of holding his kicking his girlfriend at his home and not letting her leave while pulling his gun on her. This may not be true either, so many specualtions out there. He will get out of this according to his attorney Tim Powers, if you read in the Dallas Morning News it says he cannot speak publicly about the incident. Who knows this may all be a hoax since this is the time of year he takes vacation, this could all be a hoax and rumors. It's all specualtion at this point.

according to latest info posted this morning 7/21 from  his lawyer Tim Powers Russ was arrested in front of Larry North on Friday.  The incident happened before Friday and he believes Russ will be vindicated.  He told Russ not to talk about this on air so doubt Russ will talk about it until he can.  There is still no word on who the victim was.

"North Texas radio personality Russ Martin is accused of physically assaulting a woman and displaying a weapon at his Southlake home last Monday.

The City of Southlake released some details Monday afternoon of the incident that prompted Martin's arrest on Friday.

Officials say the unnamed complainant alleges that she and Martin "engaged in a verbal altercation that turned physical. She advised that Martin physically assaulted her and displayed a pistol during the altercation."

The woman reported the July 14 incident to police on the following day. "

So his show can have content. I'll put up money this is a bit. Or maybe he went on a crime fighting spree after watching the new batman on opening weekend. But @ 10k bail it can't be too serious a couple of anger management classes and he'll be good to go. He almost looks ready to smurk in his mugshot. At least he went to keller lockup I believe that is a 5 star jail...mmm honey buns and chimichangas.

According to the Dallas Observer, he assaulted his girlfriend. I find that really hard to believe though. I've read on other forums that people are saying it's a hoax. Not sure about that either. One thing for sure, there sure isn't a lot of information out there about this.

I've read he was arrested at Larry North's and that the FBI might have been involved.  I first really believed this was a bit, but not so much now.  I don't think the event happened Friday morning, he was arrested Friday morning.  I believe he knew what was coming b/c the event had happened earlier in the week.

After iniating the daunting task of entering " Russ Martin assault arrest" into Google, a plethora of legitimate news stories surfaced, ( Not just from Fox news) including many from local newspapers with reputaions that are trustworthy ( Unlike those that simply pass off a flying leap of a guess as inside info obtained from "friends that work at the station" ) Station employess are most likely being prohibitted from commenting on an ongoing investigation, especially one with potentiallty damaging effects.

Russ DID NOT assault his live-in fiance Amy, he wasn't even at home when the arrest occurred. He was at a retail store in his home town of Southlake Friday morning BEFORE work and began arguing with a store employee - he is being charged with assault w/ bodily injury , and with a deadly weapon - most likely because he posesses a concealed handgun permit and was carrying his firearm with him,. If involved in an assault, robbery, etc , and it comes to light you are carrying a gun, the charges are almost automatically increased to " with a deadly weapon" ,.

So, maybe a refresher course should be offered to all who respond to questions here on Y! about checking our facts before starting a fire where there is not one. ( Or at least not as big of a fire  lol  )

Live 105.3 is going down. First they unceremoniously fire Pugs & Kelly, and pretend they're "on vacation." Now Russ shows his true colors in public. Pretty soon they won't have any local "talent" left. (Because Dan O'Malley doesn't count.)

This may have something to do with something Russ said on his show Thursday.  He said that the engagement may be off.  He said that he would let everyone know what was up on Monday.  I know you can't believe 95% of what is on the show, but it makes you wonder.

Why don't everyone just wait until the arrest report is made public then wait until the man has his day in court just like everyone is in title to before we pass judgment.  Everyone is innocent until proven guilty. Anyone can be charge with anything. Let the legal system do its job before we pass judgment this not only goes for him but anyone that is arrested for anything.

It is not a hoax. He was arrested at 9:30 AM while working on his show. He assaulted his GF Amy. The mug shot is posted at the below link. He has bonded out of jail.

There is lots of speculation on the professional radio boards, but not much more than the basics which have been covered here on YA.

One thing mentioned by radio people in Dallas who know him, is that he talks about his problems with alcohol and medications on-air and that he has a strict policy not be be disturbed at home while working at his home studio/office. 9:30 would have been during that time period. Draw your own conclusions. These (except first paragraph) are unconfirmed.

Serves 105.3 right. They haven't shown any support to Pugs and Kelly after 7 years. I do listen to Russ but if it turns out he assaulted his girlfriend I'm done with his show. And for whomever said it's only being reported on Fox 4, check again. I just saw it on the Channel 8 news...along with his mug shot. At least maybe now he'll get help for his obvious drinking problem.

I obtained a copy of the arrset warrant.  Looks like Russ really went nuts!!!  Here's what some of it says:

7/14/08 at 9:15pm, Russ called to ask his girlfriend if she had followed up w/ a phone call to the IRS regarding a package of documents he sent them.  Apparently, he is having tax troubles and was upset she had not followed up to make sure they rcvd the package.  He told her that "You better hide because when I get there, I'm going to beat the $#!| outta you."  Then, when he got home, she put on a recorder in her office and he came up there and began screaming and pushing and kicking her desk, broke her laptop, kicked her in the thigh, grabbed her by the back of the head and pulled out hair then went downstairs and got his gun.  She finally left w/ her broken laptop and went to her parents' house.  Yikes!!  Maybe Russ had too many swigs off the Jack at work that day!!!!  I wonder if the tape she recorded will ever be leaked??!!??  I'd love to hear/see it!!!!

I heard that Russ and "Amy" went to the nearby Lowe's off of 1709/Southlake Blvd. and Kimble to pick out a wood stain for their wedding gazebo.

According to the arrest report, they couldn't agree on a color. They argued and she was allegedly assaulted by a quart can of Minwax® Polyshades Classic Oak Gloss Wood Finish.

For one thing only Fox4 is reporting it.

And another I know Russ can come off as a jerk but I don't really think that he would assault Amy..
