Russell Baze showed why he is the best, when he guided Class Included to an emphatic victory in the British Columbia Oaks at Hastings Park
The 3-year-old bay filly, Class Included, under the world class jockey, Russell Baze, to capture the $100,000 British Columbia Oaks with a perfect ride at the Hastings Park on 11 September, 2011.
Trained by Jim Penney for owners, Amy Feuerborn and Michael Feuerborn, Class Included started the nine furlong race in stalking mode, as Russell Baze skillfully positioned the filly for the first six furlongs of the race.
Approaching the quarter pole, Baze started looking for more from Class Included, and the filly responded in fine manner.
It was a strong move made by the daughter of Include, and she entered the stretch roaring, took the lead on the stretch and drew off magnificently to win by four lengths over her closest rival, Castinette Dancer.
It was Overvalued who started off the race with fine fashion, and perfectly performed his pace setting duties. With pace injected into the race, Overvalued started setting brisk fractions and at the end could not keep the pacey run going, as he finished
third behind Castinette Dancer.
Though Overvalued got pace going into the race, but it still wasn’t much for Russell Baze, who has gone on to win most races in the world.
The veteran jockey said after the race that he would have liked a bit more pace in the race, but exclaimed with relish that Class Included is as speedy as they come and he was able to pace the filly whenever he wanted in the race.
She was very keen to get on with it early in the race, as Russell Baze said” I had a little more horse than I needed early.” However, the man was certain that whenever he wanted her to go all out, she would.
That is what exactly happened when Baze came out from behind and wanted Class Included to run so she just went on with it.
Trainer Jim Penney would have been delighted with what her filly can bring to the table, and maybe that is why he is vocal about her next race.
Next on the plate would be the Grade 3 $100,000 Ballerina at Hastings Park for Class Included, on 2 October,2011.
