Russell Branyan shines as Arizona Diamondbacks defeat Texas Rangers 9-8 – MLB Update
Russell Branyan put in a tremendous effort as he hit two runs with five RBIs as the Arizona Diamondbacks beat Texas Rangers 9-8 at Surprise Stadium in Arizona on March 23.
The Rangers' Arthur Rhodes offered five runs to Branyan in the seventh inning that finished Arizona's convention from a seven-run shortfall. He also made a leading run in the ninth inning against Alexi Ogando.
Branyan could be picked out from his team’s agreement if he has not secured his place in the line-up till March, 25. In his overall career, he has four home runs with 16 RBIs in 18 Major League games. His performance is worth noting, as he is looking for
a place in the final roster.
The Diamondbacks’ starting pitcher Daniel Hudson offered seven runs, one earned run on eight strikes and two walks in a shortened two inning day out. Currently, he is the team's second starter following Ian Kennedy.
Hudson pitched against five hitters of the last six. The solo exemption was Ian Kinsler, who sacrificed his play when first baseman Nady was unable to attain Kinsler’s spot in catching Hudson's throw at first base.
After the game, Hudson said, “I don't know if I was tipping pitches a little bit but everything I threw they just hit. If I was [tipping pitches] we know it's not something major I need to fix. I just wish I could have stretched out a little bit more.”
Matt Harrison permitted four runs, including three earned runs on six strikes for the Rangers in six innings. He is also competing for the closing round of trials for the Rangers' alternation. In his last game against the Cleveland Indians, Harrison permitted
just four runs on four strikes and four walks in four innings.
Speaking to media reporters, the Rangers’ manager Ron Washington said, “We made that mistake behind him but he's got to be better than that in that inning. He understands where he went wrong right there. That's the Harrison we've been seeing all spring.”
The Rangers’ officials depend much on Neftali Feliz, who was the American League Draftee of the Year 2010. It is noticed that he will start the inning instead of closing in the Rangers’ bull-pen session.
Harrison pitched against three batters in the initial five innings before facing troubles in the sixth inning when Chris Young struck a couple of runs, Xavier Nady made an RBI single and fourth run posted on a blunder.
Matt is contending with Tommy Hunter, Feliz and Derek Holland for the last three positions in the Rangers’ regulation. Hunter and Feliz both will throw on March 24 in day-night squad division game.
