Russell Coutts’ Oracle Racing grabs overall lead on Day 2 of Adris RC44 Cup at Rovinj in Croatia
RC44 fleet had a successful sail around the Rovinj racing area at the end of Day 2, as Oracle Racing was able to continue their dominance over the fleet with 16 points after four races in the event. The famous Croatian North Westerly thermal mistral greeted
the fleet on the second day’s morning, however, the breeze did not make it hard for the sailors.
The Croatian North Westerly Thermal Mistral is a sea breeze which can usually conjure up around 25 knot winds and make things dismal for sailors but luckily, the mistral just built up around 12 knots on second day of the tournament. However, despite the
ideal wind forecast, the fleet could not make any exceptional competition out of the conditions.
Some prominent performances were shown by the American RC44 boat, Oracle Racing, skippered by Russell Coutts and Sweden’s Artemis Racing driven by Torbjorn Tornqvist and Morgan Larson. Oracle Racing clinched the first and third race victories while Artemis
Racing made it to top position in the second race only but generally, they sailed convincingly to finish second at the end of Day 2.
The overall standings of Adris RC44 Cup fleet at the end of Day 2 are given below:
