Russell Henley tied for lead at the Stadion Classic at UGA – Golf news
Russell Henley posted a five under par 66 to lead the Nationwide Tour’s Stadion Classic at UGA by one stroke.
Henley is sharing the top position with American golfer Troy Kelly who also posted a 66 on the Georgia Golf course in Athens, Georgia. The duo is leading Matt Hendrix by one shot as Australian player Won Joon Lee, Darron Stiles and Elliot Gealy are all tied
for fourth place at six under par overall.
Henley moved up three positions as he was tied for fourth place before. The player started off with a birdie on the third hole and continued his amazing work as he bogeyed the fifth hole as well. Henley’s momentum broke as he made a bogey on the sixth hole
but he got right back on track as he made a birdie on the seventh hole. Finishing the front nine with another bogey on the ninth hole, the player made the turn at one under par.
The 22-year-old started the back nine with a bang as he made back-to-back birdies on the tenth and eleventh hole. Making another bogey on the fourteenth hole, the player kept his calm and made three consecutive birdies on the 15th, 16th
and 17th holes. Adam Henley knows how to go about when he is on the course with younger brother Russell.
“I try to keep things loose and I try to not talk too much about golf because he knows what to do,” Adam Henley said. “He knows how to hit the shots and how to read the putts. If he ever asks me, I'm happy to give my opinion, but most of the time I just
stay out of the way. We always say we try to have as much fun as we can out there.”
Not doing so well in the first round and being in danger of missing the cut, Henley got in control of his game and posted a 66 in the second round as well. Working hard as was evident, Henley is hoping to maintain his lead in the final round of Stadion Classic
at UGA.
