Today Russia declared war on Georgia after Georgians shot down 2 Russian jets that bombed Tbilisi.

What do you think the result of this will be between the two nations?

What impact will this have on an international level?

  1. This is just the beginning.  Georgia is an ally of the United States, and we should defend them at all costs.  They wanted to join NATO.  This is probably only the beginning and will expand into a broader WW3.  It's very likely this could happen.  Other World Wars have been started on less than this.

  2. I'm sorry, but Georgia doesn't stand a chance...

I just beg the US won't get involved in this, they have no business in this war, and they should let there allies fight for themselves.

If the US does get involved, Other countries will follow, and WW3 will start.

  3. WW3= A One World "Glow in the Dark"-New World Order.Even though he is supposed to be out of the picture now.Putin has stirred up Sht since Bush began his term!Of course GWB great judge of Character that he is looked him in the eye and saw his soul.L.O.L Great Judge of Character I must admit. Yes we will be affected ,because the world will see how weak the US has become with the Globalist views our Limp wristed politicians possess. We have no more clout with Russia or China Globally anymore. Our Financial situation is the laughing stock of the world.Unless we become independent fast from Foreign oil we are doomed!  Note : And GWB is over in China Kissing their *** because we owe them so much!!

  4. This is some pretty serious s.h.i.t. that's going on, the Georgians are screaming out for help they are under attack. God only knows what the out come will be, the Russian's are playing a game of cat and mouse with the US, Georgians are US allies and want to join NATO,  the Russians are he.l.l bent on stopping that from happening, and last but not least they do not want the US to build a defense system in their back yard, they are taking advantage of our troops being tied up in Iraq, Afghanistan, Iran.

  5. We shot down their 10 jets but neither of them bombed Tbilisi.

Where do you get all that information from? I live in Tbilisi and it's as peaceful here as always. They did violate international law and bombed regions 200 miles away from the conflict zone which they are supposed to control with their peace keepers.

Up until now nobody, I repeat, nobody recognized the independence of Southern Ossetia but 3 days ago when they, I repeat they started launching attacks on Georgian villages nearby, and Georgia started to defend itself and got the region under control when Russian peace keepers did nothing, everyone starts to state that we're in wrong because Ossetia has been independent for a while now and we had no right to do anything. Russians didn't do anything while Ossetia was attacking Georgian villages, but when we started to fight back they get involved.

  6. I'm Sorry but as S.Ossetia had already broke away from Georgia and Georgia had attacked them to regain the area and killed innocent people then Russia has every right to go there and defend them i don't think that the Ruskies wont push forward in to Georgia itself.

The thing is the people of S.Ossetia said they felt like they were been exterminated by the georgian force lets hope the red army hands some *** to the Georgians.

USA and the West has always being trying to puppet Russia and i think Putin is right to stand up for themselves. This little Battlehere might be Putins way of saying to the world look ddon'tpush us now we are getting over our troubles. And before you ask i am not Russian I'm British!

  7. Nobody knows right now what will happen exactly. There are different reports coming in, Russian warplanes bombing areas within Georgia proper (by that I mean outseide of S.Ossetia) Hundreds of civilians in the capital of S.Ossetia killed by Georgian troop advnaces (this I greatly doubt) Russian tanks and troops entering S.Ossetia from Russia, these are unconfirmed reports.

What is certain is that S.Osetia is part of Georgia. Russia had been handing out Russian paaports to S.Ossetians  for years now. Russia wants to annex that region. That is clear and has been for many years.

Abkhazia, another breakway Georgian region, is also in line for Russian annexation. Russia is attempting to tell the world that if regions in Georgia want to breakaway and join Russia or be quasi-independent that they should be allowed to be but just take a look what happened when Chechnya, a Russian region, wanted to breakaway from Russia?! As they say what's good for the goose is good for the gander......

What is happening right now is a big country pushing around a small country, this is Russia's revenge for Georgia seeking closer ties with NATO, the EU and the "west" in general.

There is also the question of an oil pipeline that might be developed by Georgia to carry oil from the Caspian region thereby bypassing Russia. Instability in Georgia suits Russia and the FSB (KGB) cabal which runs Russia.

  8. I couldn't believe it when I saw this headline.

I know tensions between the two have been high for ages, but I didn't think that it would erupt into an all-out shooting war between them.

Russia really has no business in Georgia. Coming to 'free' the South Ossetians is just as hypocritical as it would be if the Muslim countries rushed to free Chechnya.

This could very well be bad news. If the Russians simply stop in South Ossetia and go no further then it might just be a diplomatic crisis afterwards. But if the Georgians fight hard to defend South Ossetia, which I imagine they will, then it's quite possible that other countries could get pulled into this.

Let's not forget Germany's annexation of German-speaking regions that 'belonged in Germany'.

While I don't believe that Russia is plotting some larger war over this, it is unsettling to think that they are so eager to commit their forces to invade Georgia.

It will be interesting to see what NATO does. The fact that one of the reasons Georgia would have wanted to get in so bad would be to prevent a situation like this one now should at least concern NATO.

Russia will have strong international pressure from this, but if that's all that it amounts to, I can't see it solving the problem.

I suppose if they continued their aggression and a military option wasn't feasible we could try sanctions, since their economy sucks. But they do so much business with countries outside of the West's sphere of influence that it probably wouldn't be very crippling.

Don't know, this will definitely be something to follow.

  9. IMO Russian troops were in Georgian territory due to the fact that that territory still belongs to Georgia.

This could spell WW3 even though we are trying not to get involved. We must remember the Ukraine has very close relations with Georgia and if the Ukraine pledges to defend Georgian territorial integrity it could mean war for all. Even though the Ukraine isn't as strong as Russia, it still has a formidable armed forces, 1,000,000 men?

Though Russia has some allies like Venezuela if NATO decides to back Georgia which they might do if the Ukraine does Russia might back down.

  10. Russia is a terrible aggressor. They do everything to destroy Georgia and punish them for their pro-western course. This is all to stop it from joining NATO because they believe Georgia and other ex-ussr countries still "belong" to them. This is all happening in XXI century. That is what European appeasement brings.

  11. There was a time when the Russians were good people, but I fear this new Nationalistic outview on the world has changed my country completely. Georgia is none of Russia's business, we should focus on Chechnya. God forbid the USA goes their w/ NATO because i fear this will spell out World War III.

  12. It's just another nail in America's coffin. Most European citizens do not agree with America's wild ideas, Africa, Asia, not to mention the Mid East. How long will it take before Eastern Europe also realize the truth. America have spend much of their treasures in excentric warfare, for massive destruction. For some reason they were never bothered that excentric warfare don't win people over, but only creates fear, and empowers to dictate. It worked, I suppose if one stands on the wrong end of a gun, you will act as if you agree, like most of the American allies. Some advise for the Georgian"s, I fought against Russian and Cuban forces for many years during the cold war in my OWN country, backed by the US of A. Today I live like a begger from one country to the other having only my organs and arms to hire out, because I do not have a country left, thanks to the US of A. Something tells me we must thank God the Russians take their stand, because now both sides will face the wrong end of the gun, and if the Chinese empty the American coffers some more, they might come down to earth and realize what they are doing to others.
