  1. I hope we stay out. Georgia started this one by invading. Russia is just protecting her citizens.

  2. I'm not saying that it will escalate into a bigger conflict, but I'm not saying that it isn't a very distinct possibility. That is why the next few days are key. If this quites down a little, it may very well stay a local skirmish, however, if it goes at the rate is has been, we could be looking at a confrontation between NATO and Russia.

A lot of people are saying that, even if NATO gets involved, the US should not. That is not a very reasonable statement. The rest of NATO wants to fight even less than we do, so why would NATO go to fight when we would not? Besides, if NATO does get involved in more than a diplomatic capacity, we would actually be justified in going to fight (not like Iraq).

I hope this will end too, but I think that we should not be afraid to do what we have to do. Russia is very dangerous as they are getting increasingly hostile towards the West. This episode is but the latest example. It seems as though Russia is trying to restart the Cold War. They seem a little sour about losing that one and look like they are trying to prove that they are not some little backwoods country anymore. They are trying to be a Superpower, much like they were in the 1940s-1980s.

If we do get involved in this, we should not get involved soley as the US, but as a coalition of NATO nations being sent to attempt to resote peace and aid an ally in a time of crisis.

  3. No. We dont step in,only ain a diplomatic way. This is simple. Russia is showing the U.S that it will remain the military and influential power of the region. U.S. support of Georgia to join NATO and that defense shield agreement Czchec Republic and Poland helped in Russia's decision. Guys, have you all forgotten about the Cold War???? I hope Nato steps in and innocent people dont get killed any longer. US has no business doing there anything in a military standpoint, conflicts like this sadden me,but the were made by the head the the Geargian state, not ours. By the way, dont be surprised if Russia ends having a shieled and missils in?Venezuela or Cuba and we have a new US military base in my home country,Colombia in the next few years.....Im glad Bush is out of office in a couple of months, cause hes the biggest moron as far as military  decisions go.....

My hopes are for everything to be resolved peacefully, US should only step in conflicts involved with genocide(WW2 is a good example). It hurts so see many people getting killed, but why is he going to war with Russian, thats like playing russian rullet with 6 bullets......hope this helps ya!

  4. russia is just over reacting like a crazy dog barking  out loud. in its  own ever decreasing back yard. they like to show off how powerfull they still can be and are looking to make a deal to stop missile defences being installed in check republic ect both sides can be talked into calming down with diplomacy and economic threats and deals. thats the russians  main concern appart from feeling closed in by increesed democracy in the region  so there is plenty of chips to bargain with yet.

  5. WW3 will hapen sooner or latter its just a question of time.

  6. This will all probably blow over in a few days with south osseita being absorbed into the Soviet uni....I mean Russia

  7. War already goes in information shpere. The western mass-media quote only Saakashvilli. But he is the liar. Russians doesn't attack civil objects in Georgia. Doesn't use a rockets. Russians just to protect civilians in S. Ossetia.

Now georgian soldiers attact Tskhinvali again. Do you know it? Georgians have razed to the ground Tskhinvali. Killed more then 2000 civilians. In an emphasis shot russian peacemakers. Threw pomegranates in cellars of houses when there was children and women. What do you know about it? Your mass-media presents just one side of this conflict!

  8. I really do not believe that this will escalate to a world problem- """"Unless the U.S. gets involved"""""" There are so many conflicts, wars going on like this around the world every day.  South Ossetia declared it's independence from Georgia in 1990-1991 ,  and receives its's 30 mil a year in help from Russia.  Georgia who forcefully took over South Ossetia just doesn't seem to want to recognize it's independance and loyalies. anyhow, I don't think they are ambitious enough to combat Russia in keeping their control.  The US needs to stay out of it.  And YES, war is a terrible thing, so many innocents have lost their lives for the power and control of a few.

  9. I'm afraid I agreed with your theory. This looks like an ideal reason for the US & it's allies to go up the against one of the last major powers that stand against them. China being the other. I hope I'm wrong. Lets just watch Sky "news" and see how it pans out.

  10. NO. Its not wort it for a place like Georgia. They dont even have any decent 5* hotels there.

"In this case, however, Washington has elevated Georgia’s “territorial integrity” as the paramount principle in the conflict, effectively justifying Georgia’s military intervention and an assault on the province’s Russian population that Moscow has branded as “ethnic cleansing.”

The apparent contradiction between these two policies only underscores the fact that US imperialism’s supposed aversion to ethnic cleansing and the suppression of ethnic enclaves is entirely dependent upon who is doing it and whether or not it serves US strategic interests."
