Russia Open 2012: Vladimir Rusin casts out Gordey Kosenko in opening round

Men’s Singles campaigner Vladimir Rusin started his marathon in perfect style as he trounced Gordey Kosenko in the first round of Russia Open Grand Prix tournament on June 27, 2012.
Though, this tussle got resolved in just 34 minutes but still both players remained head-to-head for three sets to read final result of 9-21, 21-10 and 15-21.
The unseeded Russian shuttler Vladimir Rusin stamped his supremacy in opening and closing segments of the show while the opposing shuttler could live his moment of glory only in the second set.
Now, the victorious player is scheduled to meet top seeded compatriot shuttler Vladimir Ivanov in pre quarter-finals of Grand Prix tournament.
Earlier in first round match, Vladimir set the ball rolling by clinching very first set with a huge difference in final total.
He established an unassailable lead with five uninterrupted rallies straight away in the beginning. This initial advantage took him to dominating position of 7-2.
Next couple of minutes was controlled by his challenger but Vladimir managed to end first half with 11-6 margin.
Later part of the game saw him at his best as he did not give even a single counter-attack opportunity and bagged a vital match point with notable lead in 21-9.
The second set was a replay of previous one but in reverse manner as Gordey Kosenko hammered his competitor with a strong reply.
This time he did not repeat previous mistakes and played with great precision. He got into commanding position with four consecutive points after 4-4. He carried this momentum all the way to mid-game break and placed a formidable total of 11-6.
After one-minute break, Gordey lost grip for short span of time but he reinstated his dominance with some power packed rallies.
Vladimir kept trailing behind until game point situation and ultimately surrendered after reading 10-21 score on the board.
However, he did not lose his nerves after this severe blow and made amends in the decider. He ensured his presence in pre quarter-final round with a respectable six-point lead in concluding margin.
The spirited Russian bagged first half with 11-8 and then magnified the impact by registering decisive figure of 21-15.
