Russia and georgia and US intervention?

ok so i have read up on the georgia and russia thing and i am still unsure at who is at fault. If the U.S. were to intervene i do believe we could take russia, with struggle but if we went all out i do believe it could be done, and i dont want discussion of nukes heres. However would the big red giant of china team up with russia? then we would be in for real trouble, could we handle china? im not so sure. i dont think they could take the U.S. but i do think they could defend there country? what is your idea about all this if things turn bad?

I'm sorry, but the US and Russia at war=Mutual Assured Destruction.

This may be the beginning of the next cold war; the US is sapped from the Iraqi quagmire, and the UN will, as usual, do nothing effective.

China, however, will never side with Russia; they HATE each other; the more likely alliance would be US/China, but even that is unlikely unless Russia invades Asian, instead of EurAsian, territory.

It's been said we couldn't take russia during the cold war and i don't believe we could take them now. Over all this is the reason why we have a lot more nuclear weapons so we don't have to fight russia.

China could just stay out of it and after we kill our self they could take over :)

WHY..... When China invaded Tibet......did we interfere?  NO ! How is the Ossetia-Georgia-Russia situation any different?

This is not our business..... We should only get our troops killed when there is a threat against America

We have a long history of sticking our nose in other peoples business with disasterous results..... we are not the worlds police force

toms1266, lol are u kidding me? first - the official position of china is tht they support russia in this conflict, tho its more like a moral support

second - china is much more of an ally for russia than for us, and trust me there wud be nothin wrong with china's economy without us, i wud even say tht its vice versa, u do depend on china way much more

third - yeah i am pretty sure china wud've supported russia, do u even have any idea bout wht the political relations of the two countries are?

China would NEVER fight the US.  They would sooner fight the Russians than fight the US.  We are their entire economy.

NATO is more than capable of handling Russia.

The US did intervene.  We supplied and trained their army then airlifted 2000 of their troops from Iraq in US air force transports after advising the Russians not to shoot them down. We have US Army and British SAS advisors in Georgia and taxpayers can expect to be asked to pay billions to re-supply Georgia in a few weeks.

But the US will not send in more troops.  We will let the Georgians and Russians kill each other and they will get back at us by selling missiles to Iran or the Kurds or Cuba or fomenting a war somewhere else.  That is how this video game is played.  There will be no direct confrontation - just another proxy war.
