Russia georgian war to spark world war 3?

even though the man hostilities between russian and georgia are ebbing away, heard in the news Russia is angry about american missiles based in poland which they believe are headed for their ballistic missiles base.

France are angry with russia for starting the georgian war and i cant help but think is it possible this could spark a third world war?

I mean you have to remember the first world war was sparked by the assasination of just one man

The first world war was a long time ago - We didn't have Nukes.

As strong as Russia are, they wouldn't be a match for even just Europe let alone requiring the USA's help. Another thing, is that Russia have calmed there spending on such military attributes and thus there economy has revived somewhat because of it, what annoys them is the sheer amount of money the US now have to begin another cold war, which could plummit there economy into dyer form once again (Russias). America are purposely trying to pursue another cold war, because they know they can spend it, and they know Russia can't afford it.

It's an economic strategy, not WW3.

2 someone talking about the cold war and how russia cant afford it, while us will enjoy it lol: actually i believed that there has been a tiny lil crysis in american economy, which still lasts and so u wont really get through the cold war that easy either, will u? :) just a thought though

2GlumEvertonian[Kenwright out!!!]: after the two world wars ppl got smarter, or at least they believe so and for example UN's purpose is to avoid another big war, besides its actually silly that it was just an assassination caused the ww1, it was just one of the reasons and an "excuse" for attack, if u want so :)

I think that many people in this forum, including myself and respectfully discluding a few, are under-qualified to answer a question of this magnitude.  So, as another answerer pointed out: why worry about it?  Do you have any impact on the situation?

These countries do not get angry with one another, it is all about posturing.  Why at the moment is unclear, probably Russia is trying to bring uncertainty to gas supplies as an excuse to raise the price of gas.

Or to put it another way, why should Russia deploy vast military resources, at vast expense, when it can up the price of gas, threaten to cut it off, making large sums of money and having an enormous amount of fun at everyone else's expense.

WW III may start if US military believes it can neutralize ruissian nukes. This beyond possible if those are launched, however, they can be destroyed in shafts by anti-bunker cruise missiles. But this requires a complete secrecy. And still chances to destroy russian potential in a single strike are tiny.

Obama might make a good diplomat and solve the problem. The problem is that Russia is unjustly outlawed by present American administration, that is incompetent. They exposed Georgia to Russian counter strike.

The way out could be: NATO should declare that Russia is a democracy, that NATO doesn't view Russia as a threat and invite Russia as a member of NATO. Declare that NATO is aimed at muslim fundamentalism and terrorism. (NATO can't exist without an enemy, we need to find a new enemy instead of Russia)

Many facts show that Georgian attack on South Ossetia was blessed by Bush. So if present American administration didn't hesitate to kill Russian peacekeepers, they might be ready to try to nuke Russia which is crazy..

China can support or not support the policy of Russia on its southern borders, but communist China never will invade to Russia for defence of stinking Georgia, which existence 99,99 percents of Chinese knew from newspapers 2 weeks ago. In general China is very weak state, to be at war with Russia, in spite of enormous quantity of population and army of this country. A few years ago Russia settled all boundary questions with China, and trade with Russia and employment of the Chinese population in our country mean for China much more than false friendship with the West and America.

Bombs in Poland aren't a good idea IMO. However, the Russian military isn't as advanced as it was 20 years ago. They know an invasion by us will mean the end of the Russian Federation like we know a nuclear bomb by them will mean the end of the world. The fact that China has denounced Russia's actions pretty much mean that the likelihood of a Russian offensive is nil. Europe to the west, china to the east and the US invade via north/south. That's called a can of a**whoopin'.

If something untoward comes about, so to speak, I'm sure it would most likely be by accident.  

The danger is that in highly charged situations, people and nations can become awful darn accident prone.

And certain presidents around here can be just all thumbs where things like military intelligence and so on are concerned, you may have noticed.

Action .. and now Americans put some missile-hunter-missiles at poland for stop ICBMs who target western cities (near at russian borderline), also nato send several warships to black sea for show some flag at this territorial sea .. reaction .. russian air force ( after ten year ) send airplanes for patrolling at Alaska and U.S Interceptor Plains fly again for intercept them .. reaction .. Nato uninvited Russia from Military Exercises and send more ships to Mediterranean Naval Bases .. reaction .. Russia send some short range missiles ( nuke carriers ) to baltic fleet .. reaction .. Spain, Germany and Turkey sends more than 5 Awacs to Caucasian Area to watch 58.Army ( Russian Army Located At Caucasian Land ) with direct order from Nato .. reaction .. blah,blah.

Is those spark WW 3? I really don't think so .. both side need show some muscle to each other, Imo kind of "cold war" days isn't far away from us .. but WW 3? ; nope, don't think so.
