Does merely granting Russian citizenship to South Ossetians, who are also citizens of the sovereign nation of Georgia give Russia the right to invade the sovereign nation of Georgia and conduct a genocidal war of aggression in that sovereign nation?

If the answer is yes, then could Mexico grant citizenship to United States Citizens and use that as a pretext to invade the United States of America?

  1. Putin is a fool.

Putin thinks that he can wage a genocidal war of aggression against the people of Georgia without any consequences.

Putin is making the same mistake that Hitler made when he invaded the Sudetenland.

Putin will end up like Hitler ended up.

  2. There is a seperatist movement in South Ossetia that wants to break away from Georgie, these seperatists are supported by the Russians and were granted Russian citizenship

When the Georgian military attacked south ossetia to make sure they don't break off, they killed Russian civilians

Russia saw this as an act of war for killing their civilians, and took their chance to put Georgia back in their place.

South Ossetians WANT to be part of Russia and try to break off Georgia. Georgia refuses to let them break off and has been ethnically cleansing and murdering civilians that oppose their government for the last few years

somehow, the media made it look like the Georgians are the innocent good hearted ones getting attacked by the big bad Russians.

Hope Russia puts Georgia back in their place

  3. Mikhail Saakashvili is a fool.

Saakashvili thinks that he can wage a genocidal war of aggression against the people of South Ossetia without any consequences.

Saakashvili is making the same mistake that Hitler made when he invaded the Sudetenland.

Saakashvili will end up like Hitler ended up.

It helps to know what actually happened. Genocide is the killing of a people. Russia has done no such thing. They attacked military targets. Georgia, on the other hand, attacked Ossetians regardless of whether they were military or citizen. Georgia attacked S. Ossetia first, killing Russians too. Georgia is committing ethnic cleansing. But does anyone care? No. People just have a knee jerk reacting to "Russia" as always being the bad guy, so they close their ears and refuse to see the truth, that Russia invaded a genocidal country who attacked first.

  4. already a complicated issue....but to me, as far the Ossetians wanting to defect to Russia, is sorta like the little idiot kid who rebelled against his parents to the point of shouting out--"OK, I'm tired of taking orders..I'm going out and joining the Marines!"

  5. No. This is all a big propoganda war the Russia which is a socialist state is engaging in. Russia has no right to invade a soveriegn country or grant citizenship to citizens of another country.

  6. No. But the same goes for Georgia. They never really had the right to invade a region that claimed its own independence either. There is really no difference between what Georgia did in South Ossetia and what Russia did in response. The only difference is that Russia is winning. Don't get me wrong! I don't support Russia in this. But the lesson is clear: don't mess with Russia.

Mexico is completely irrelevant to the topic. Different nation. Different circumstances. Different context.

  7. When you put it that way.....

Actually I find the situation quite unreal.

  8. Mexico has already done this to the U.S. They have sent in the Mexican illegal alien invaders.

  9. Mexico has always been invading the USA.  50+ million emigrants is more than any army in the world. Fortunately, they are all desertors.

  10. To Phate

I don't know whether most of Ossetia inhabitants want to be a part of Russia. It sounds at least suspicious for me. Independent - that is reasonable. This "will" of becoming part of Russia reminds me of Baltic states' "will" of joining Soviet Union after WW.
