  1. Russia, is considered Europe, either bcause that is its adopted continent, or because the soviet union once spread well into western Europe, so it has decided to stay in Europe. Russia competes in various events fro Europeans only as well, like the Eurovision Song Contest, you European football championships, etc

  2. Geographically part of Russia is in Europe and the larger part is in Asia. The boundary is approx. at the Ural Mountains.

  3. Russia is Europe and Asia, mostly Asia though. I think it's 75 percent of Russia that is Asia. Russia is Eurasian.

  4. Both.

    Most geographers consider the Ural Mts the dividing point between the two continents, though the location is a bit arbitrary.

    Historically, Russia has blended cultural elements of Asia & Europe, however it is the European elements that have predominated.

    Consider;

    -The Greeks colonized the areas aroung the Black Sea during the Helenic era.

    -The Russian alphabet is a modified form of Greek called Cyrillic, which is named for the Byzantine monk who created it.

    The name Russia, refers to the lands of the Rus, the slavic word given to the scandinavian peoples who invaded & settled in the 8th-12th centuries.

    The pre-soviet head of of state was called the Tsar or Czar, a corrupted version of Cesar.

    Keiv, before it was sacked by the mongols, was one of the 3 most important cities of Christendom (the other two being Constantinople & Rome).

    The most influential Tsar's continually made a habit of looking to western europe for ideas & inspiration.

    Before the advent of the soviet state, Chistianity was the dominant religion & was spread eastward by state sponsership.

    Thus, though Russia is a major power in both Asia & Europe, it is considered a European country.

  5. well, let's see. Geographically Russia has TWO biggest European cities - moscow and St Petersburg. The longest river and the highest mountain in Europe are also located in russia. The main religion is Christianity, the language is Slavonic  (the Slavs are Eastern europeans)/ But people usualy separate Russia and Europe/ When russians say "Europe" they mean "all Europe except for russia(and maybe except for Byelarussia and Ukraine)". But Russia is not Asian-like: look at chinese Japanese, koreans/ Not the same/ Only SOME per cents of russians are buddhists and the students in russian school don't treat teachers like gurus and don't have asian discipline. Well Europe is the left leg, Asia is the right one and russia is somewhere between them.

  6. Neither.  It's Russia.

  7. Both.  The symbol of the Russian Federation is the double headed eagle.  One head looks towards the west in Asia and the other looks towards the east in Europe.

  8. Russia is in both Asia and Europe.  I was born in the Asian part (Irkutsk, close to Mongolia and China) but culturally, it is mostly considered a European country (because of the religion and origin of the Russian language).

    If you have ever seen the Russian crest, it is a two headed eagle facing in different directions (no, not the albanian one).  That is because one head is looking at Europe and the other at Asia.
