Russia ready to embrace a Grand Prix soon
Jenson Button feels thrilled after having a festive weekend in Moscow. On his return, he strongly feels that the city must be involved in the Formula One calendar for a Grand Prix. He said that the people and place were really exciting and it will be great to have a Russian Grand Prix endorsed in the calendar.
During his leisurely laps in the race at Kremlin walls on his first trip to Moscow he said that he found the entire trip to be more of an enjoyment rather than work. For Button this had been his first trip to Moscow and he told that he is sad that he could not see the city much but he hopes to go there soon again and now for a Grand Prix.
Button had been there for a local Russian festival called Moscow City Racing, organised with an idea of promoting likeness of motor sport in the region. Other than Button the Renault driver, Vitaly Petrov was also present in the event. Being a Russian driver the event was exceptionally brilliant for Petrov. This was the first time ever that he had been able to drive in front of his home fans.
For Renault Roadshow, this was the third time that the team was able to part take in the event. The first time the team went to the event was in the year 2005. Since then the team has found the occasion to be really thrilling and amazing as well as the viewers are also always enthusiastic and brilliant. This year again the race fans were amazingly engrossed and thrilled by the event as the two drivers drove among many of the local Russian drivers.
Three seater Formula One cars were used for the event which also provided space for two other guests to experience the thrill and buzz of a Formula One car. The excitement that the fans were able to show had been really encouraging for the event organisers who are already planning to let the event grow bigger and better.
The Moscow officials are already carrying negotiations with the Formula One commercial supremo Bernie Ecclestone. While talking to the media after the event some of the officials stated that they wish to have a Grand Prix in Moscow as early as 2012. They added that the delay is at Formula One’s end to finalise the deal with them.
Derk Sauer, the general director of Bavaria Moscow City Racing told Reuters in an interview that the he hopes that the deal will be closed in a little time as they are already trying to have it finalised as soon as possible. He furthermore added that the Moscow officials have already started making arrangements for the race. He continued telling that the Moscow officials have already listed the German architect Hermann Tilke in order to design the track around the Kremlin.
Sauer was happy to exclaim that the track here would be one similar to Monaco, “a race around the city centre with the Kremlin in the background." He excitedly proclaimed that he was sure that the people of the country as well as those touring it would be thrilled by the event.
While commenting on Sauer’s interview regarding the Russian Grand Prix, Ecclestone said that it is among his greatest priorities this year to have things settled with the Russians as soon as possible to have it included in the Formula One calendar in next to no time.
Overall the event held this weekend gave more reasons to the Moscow’s event organisers as well as the Formula One’s officials to think more positively regarding holding Russian Grand Prix.
