Russia vs. Ukraine match preview – 2011 CEV Boys’ Youth European Championship
The boys’ volleyball teams from Russia and Ukraine are scheduled to cross their ways on Wednesday, 20th April in the Bestepe Sports Hall in Ankara, Turkey.
The 2011 CEV Boys’ Youth European Championship is in full swing this week. The tournament was started off on Saturday, 16th April and it is supposed to complete its run on coming Sunday, April 24. The tournament is progressing with the first preliminary
round matches.
In this connection, Russia and Ukraine will be meeting at 14:30 (local time) in their fourth match.
Both teams have played three pool matches and Russia has better record so far. The Russian “army” is doing pretty well since the start of the tournament. They opened the tournament with a great victory against underdogs Finland.
It was a one-sided affair as Finland was no match for strong Russian Team. The Russian studs completely launched authority on the Finnish side and grabbed victory in straight sets. The success in opening match proved to be a stepping stone for Russia and
they repeated the same results in their next fixture with Spain. The Spaniards could not penetrate the power of Russian attack and easily gave in.
Russian team attained the perfect rhythm and tone to maintain their winning streak in third match. Team Belgium was on the other side of the net in third match. Russian teams displayed another great show of volleyball against Belgium and pulled off success
in consecutive sets. Russia emerged as top team of Pool I after three matches.
Russia is now supposed to face Ukraine in fourth match, which seems an easy task for them. The Ukrainian has also appeared in three matches. In the first match, they lost to defending champion France.
However, they put up a valiant effort in their next match against Finland. The match spanned over five sets and took many ups and down. At the end, Ukraine emerged as victorious team and marked their first win of the tournament. The happiness was short lived
though as Spain beat them in the next match. Ukraine is struggling for better status but they are down with bad results. In today’s match, they are set to take on one of the best teams of the Pool I.
Russian team is known for its heavy strike and superb tactics. Ukraine has low chances to stay in front of strong Russian squad.
Russia has bright prospects to add another victory to their count. Anyhow, let’s cross our fingers and wait until the action starts.
