Russia will not hold us to ransom - Brown?

Don't you think the western world should get over this Russia/Georgia/South Osettia thing? Shouldn't we all just move on? The time for action was when Russia was in Georgia, not now, after the event. There's buggar all anyone can do to stop Russia doing as she pleases just as there's buggar all (certainly not the UN) who can stop America doing as she pleases. Shouldn't the west just accept what's done is done and stop it's silly posturing ?

  1. the russians are only prodding cause they know that the west is a bit streched in iraq and afghanistan, they still dont have the economic sources to carry it much further, they almost bankrupt themseves once trying to keep up with the yanks and it looks like its going that way again, the russians should be more worried bout the chinese and watching thet border than trying to provoke the west

  2. Well!It just goes to show just how much this political cretin is out of touch with reality!the man must live in a dream world!

Gordon Brown;Surely must know that Russia would have no hesitation in stopping the flow of oil and gas to Europe if we stepped out of line!

  3. It should, but the west will never let Russia move on but will keep picking at the issue as long as it thinks it can get some advantage. On the other hand, very soon after Iraq, Blair and company were urging us to 'draw a line under' the bogus WMD and invasion affair. We're applying our double-standards again. It seems that we can do no wrong, and if we do, we demand immediate absolution and amnesia, and call those who don't give it to us "people trapped in the past".

  4. Who are we to criticise Russia after we invaded two innocent countries who presented no threat to anyone and still occupy them just to help America to steel their oil.

Gorden Brown should realise America would like to split the EU and how stupid to think if we put sanctions on russia they don,t have the right to turn off the gas.For gods sake government if you can,t say anything constructive keep your mouths shut.

Stop thinking this is a super power and start to ponder why is this one of the richest country,s in the world and poverty is escalating so fast.

  5. Giving way to power mad dictatorships is the way it has always been and speaking out against them is all the free world can do,because of it's appeasement policies, letting them off the hook by asking them not to do it again because it's wrong.Powerful nations will always act first on any threat it feels as an attempted invasion against its boundaries. Hadrian did,but he was credited with keeping out barbarian nations that would corrupt the roman way of life and free trade amongst empire nations with the forum voting unanimously in favour for his actions. Silly celts wanted to invade to retrieve their lands and openly trade.

  6. Austria!  Sudetenland!  Czechoslovakia!  Poland!

  7. heres the thing

russia is a powerful nation and the usa

    is an imperialist nation

and no matter what year it is theres always going to be tension

and the georgia thing is just another excuse to investigate russia

the usa is scared of anyone whos a threat

there like the bully whos scared of fighting

  8. georgia seems at fault for starting the conflict...it has now reaped its reward loss of some territory ..it should say good riddance to ossetia and abkhasia[if spelt right] and get on with its own security and identity and try and get on good terms with russia and america ..America did not like  russian ballistic missiles in its backyard [cuba]..so why is it putting the same in russias backyard?

  9. This is Gordon Brown's greatest failing, he sees himself as a politician on the world stage, not the PM of his own country.

Why does he go on and on about people in Africa, when his Government cant even keep our streets or our personal details safe.

Thus he manages to alienate everyone.  The people of the UK, who see him as not interested, and the rest of the world, who see him as an interfering lightweight who has no substance.

Do you think Mr Putin will be quaking in his boots?

  11. Bush and Rice together with Brown will keep waving this about for as long as it stops you looking at their own mistakes.

It's a bit like behaviour on the roads, poor drivers like to point at the other idiot.

  12. Gorden Brown should clean his own house before meddling in others, i still cant believe that the British public elected such a t**t? people like him get involved in international issues so as to avoid dealing with the problems within Britain. SORT IT OUT!
