Russian Box Tortoise is "shy"?

Question

I am worried about my russian tortoise. He is acting shy around me but I have had him for like five years... any advice?

something might b wrong, go to the vet

visit some herpetology sites or call your vet who specializes in exotic pets or reptiles.

Maybe he is going through puberty or something.

Or, can you think of any unpleasant, although, accidental thing you did to hurt him or frighten him, and he remembers?  noises or such?
