Russian Dinamo Kazan continues with its winning ways in Pool C - Volleyball news
Russia’s top female volleyball club team Dinamo Kazan is the top team in Pool C of 2012 CEV Champions League Prelims.
They are still undefeated in the league round and have a splendid winning record of 5-0. In the recent memory, Dinamo Kazan went against Atom Trefl SOPOT of Poland. The city of Kazan in Russia hosted the match, while great number of local fans came to support
the home squad. Dinamo Kazan clinched success in straight sets. The set scores were 25-21, 25-16, 25-23. With the fifth straight victory in the prelims, Dinamo qualified for the next round of the tournament.
Russia’s top spiker, Ekaterina Gamova, enjoyed the huge spotlight as she added match-high 15 points while Megan Hodge scored 13 for the Poland. Russian libero Ekaterina Ulanova put up a great effort to lead her team to success. She said it was difficult
to deal with the solid defence of Polish team. Nevertheless, she expressed delight about their victory.
The Russian musketeers opened the game in the usual style and influenced the opposite team with a great combination of offense and defence. The great noise of home supporters further enticed the players to showcase an incredible show of volleyball. Russia’s
setter made good use of her hands and her mind. She assisted other players on the court and also added points via her tricky bump passes. Atom Trefl had good defence but still the Russian spikers always found the rare gaps to score points. First set continued
for 28 minutes and eventually Dinamo Kazan emerged as the winner of opening frame (25-21).
In the following set, Poland regrouped the players and tried to cover the deficit. Margareta Kozuch provided plenty of power to the ball and produced powerful serves.
Meanwhile, the defence expert of Atom Trefl, Paulina Maj, saved many crucial points. Situation got better for Poland in the second set and they went up. It seemed as if Atom Trefl was back in form but Kazan did not allow the guests to enjoy the lead for
long. Home team regained better status and pushed the opponent behind. Kazan won the second set and improved to 2-0 lead in the match.
Third set was a heated competition as Poland tried to save the match, while Russia was all up to put an end to the affair. SOPOT delivered killing spikes via Ewelina Sieczka and went up 13:10 before Dinamo bounced back snatched the lead. The game continued
until Dinamo won the set points at 25-23. Dinamo Kazan of Russia pulled off success in the match, while SOPOT regretted the loss of an important match.
The Head Coach of Atom Trefl, Alessandro Chiappini, revealed his thoughts after the match. He stated, “We played against one of the best teams out there, equally for some moments, but too many mistakes from our side influenced the final result.”
