Russian Konstantin Semenov speaks about his Olympic goals – Volleyball news
Konstantin Semenov, the Russian beach volleyball star, recently talked about his Olympic goals.
He said his main objective in the 2012 season is to qualify for Olympic Games in London. Furthermore, he expressed high hopes to secure the gold medal at SWATCH FIVB Moscow Grand Slam.
In this connection, he shared his thoughts in the following manner, “Our objectives for the season? To qualify for the Olympic Games in London and take a medal at home at the [Moscow] Grand Slam. Of course, this does not mean that the remaining stages of
the World Tour are not important for us. However, we want to perform at home particularly well.”
In 2011, Semenov worked out great name by winning the Russian National Championship. He was paired with Aleksandrs Samoilovs and they pulled off success in the final showdown of the national championship.
Furthermore, Semenov proved the steel of his arms at the SWATCH World Tour. He participated in the international tournaments alongside his new partner Yaroslav Koshkarev and went on top at the Hague Open beach volleyball tournament which held in the Netherland.
The Russian duo managed to seize the title trophy and enjoyed great spotlight.
In the next run, Semenov has set eyes on 2012 London Olympics. He is determined to do well at the Moscow Grand Slam, which is scheduled to be played before the Olympics. The SWATCH FIVB Moscow Grand Slam will take place from June 6-11 and it will serve as
an Olympic Qualification Tournament.
Semenov is hopeful to get enough emotional support from the local fans to do well in the tournament. He is undergoing extensive training and practice for the upcoming challenge.
He stated, “The mood is good and I'm looking forward to the start of the season. I’m a little bit tired from the practice, but me and Yaroslav understand – we are founding a base for the upcoming year. That's why we try to approach the requirements of our
coach with seriousness.”
This is going to be the second full season for Semenov on the SWATCH World Tour in 2012. He is working hard along with his partner and seems quite confident to achieve his set goals.
