  1. Russia does have Muslim provinces and territories, most famous of all probaly Chechnia, the Republic were a rebellion started in the late nineties and which many have compared to Serbia's Kosovo. Ingushetia does have a Muslim population as well.

On they question of what are they called, there's might be some confusion with the Roma people (Gypsies) that also constitute a large proportion of Russia's population. However, Roma may or may not be Muslims; in other words, Roma and Muslim are not the same thing but historically different peoples.

On the other hand, please note that a large part of the Muslim population of Central Asia now lives outside of Russia.

After the Soviet Union broke apart, Muslim republics like Kirgizthan or Turkmenistan gained independence, and they have a largely Muslim population though they aren't part of Russia anymore.

  2. Russia's Empire at its height included a large number of Muslim minorities.  A fair number of these people moved to Russia during the years before the break up of the USSR.  So Russian Muslims are found all over Russia now, although they are concentrated in the southern areas, like Chechnya.

  3. Actually, they all are turkic ethnicities...They belong to the turkish world, and I considere them as Turks,as brothers ( I am a Turk of Turkey)

They are the Tatars, the Tchetchens, the Bachkirs,etc...

  4. Chechnya, Tajikistan and Georgia
