These are quotes from Vladimir Putin regarding this issue a link to the full story is supplied underneath.

“As we all know, Saddam Hussein was hanged for burning down several Shiite villages. But now suddenly the situation is different. The Georgian leaders who in a matter of hours wiped out ten Ossetian villages, who ran over children and the elderly with tanks, who burned civilians alive, those people have to be protected,” he said.

  1. There is confusion on the western media's part to what is happening.

There is Pro-Georgian views on the matter, which is no way helping the russian cause.

Either Russia is avoiding media attention which can be viewed as a bad thing, or Russia's points of views are being blocked by the media.

There are rumours of the USA being involved and provoking Georgia to start conflict with Russia, which can explain why the media isn't giving the full picture as the USA isn't exactly friendly with Russia in the first place.

There are however EU and USA negotiators been sent to the area to get the conflict sorted out, but not much has materialised as of yet about what is happening from them.

It just comes down to the fact that the media isn't reporting the proper story.

  2. Russia may be targeting Georgian military installations by crossing the borders. But does Russia thinks protecting the people of South Ossieta can be justified by moving deep into Georgian territory and targeting and killing Georgian citizens as well intentional or accident? Whatever the truth of the matter is you have to ask How will this escalation which may turn into a cycle of violence come to an end, if you kill other people because one of your people are killed, and then the other people will hate you and kill your people because one of theirs is killed.  If the Russian PM thinks the invasion on Iraq by the West is a mistake because many innocent lives have been lost in the process of eliminating the leaders assoscoated with Saddam, then why use it as an excuse and do the same if he knows it's wrong

Russia has the firepower, and so should do everything to limit the conflict within South Ossetia and the immediate areas, and not spread it deep into Georgian soil.

  3. The Russians have offered no proof.  No pictures, no video of these imaginary Georgian attrocities.  Meanwhile we can confirm that they've invaded a sovereign nation and continue to bomb it while the Georgians ask for a cease fire.

Putin needs to be executed.  It's only a matter of time until he becomes the new Hitler.  I guess we'll act when he invades Poland.

  4. We only have Russian words to say this really happened and as far as that goes it means c**p.  We all know that Russians have never been forth right and up coming when it comes to what really goes on in Russia or the surrounding areas.

  5. Truth is the first casualty of war

  6. America is a beast that loves killing

I back Russia, this war is in fact America V Russia, its 1-0 to Russia. Georgia is backed by the U.S as America wants them to join nato.

LOL at at the Hitler comparison to Putin, Read my link to see who is the current Hitler

  7. I don't believe the media anymore.

Even the fireworks at the Olympics were fake, so I heard on the radio.

Humans are hellbent on destroying themselves.

The Dartboard has the best answer.^^^^^^^^ above me.

  8. Yes and no, but there is no excuse for any kind of conflict with violence or terrorism. Certain leaders of Western countries ought to be done for war crimes yet for some reason, they are untouchable. It is very hypocritical and worrying when some world leaders think that to lead their countries into wars is the only way to solve a crisis.

  9. On the other hand when soviet states such as Hungary and Chechoslovakia tried to free themselves from the Soviet Union, the Soviet Union sent their tanks in and crushed the freedom fighters to prevent them breaking away from the soviet union.

So why does the soviet union object to Georgians trying to crush freedom fighters trying to break away from Georgia.

Russia is full of hypocracy. I wouldn't even bother to question the validity of what they say. Basically they are hypocrates and full of sh.t

EDIT: Penny, what are you on darling, I followed your link re USA and South Africa. Let me assure you that Zimbabwe is not South Africa darling. They are two different countries and nowhere in the article does it say that USA criticised South Africa. Quite the oposite. Please, learn a bit about the world and then take part in debates. As a South African, I can assure you that Zimbabwe is not South Africa.

  10. The USA has been hypocritical; they have even scolded South Africa for their violent ways.

This whole thing is ridiculous; it's so very sad to see how little value people hold for human life. It's heart-breaking.
