  2. I saw a recipy for Russian pierogis that were made with a pastry dough and baked, just as you described.

  3. It was either "pirog" (if big), or "pirozhki" or "manty" (if small). There are lots of dihes in Russian food with meat, onion, and pumpkin, so it's hard to say what exactly it was. And yes, Russian food is DELICIOUS! :)

You can ask your father take the recipe in Russian. I'll help you to translate.

    Good luck! :)

  4. Kathleen, empanadas are Mexican. It sounded like it was a pierogi. And I think they meant to say 'potato' instead of 'pumpkin', because I have never heard of pumpkins in pierogi.

    Did it look like this?:

  6. Possibly Pelmenyi. These are like what you describe.Russians eat them by the carload I hear. I've made them myself and they are delicious.
