Russian parapsychology scientist in 1930. known for it's cruelty. anybody knows his name?

During 1920 - 1937, there was a group of russian scientist that studied paranormal activity, especially psychic, to produce new weapons. their lider was a cruel scientist that was later executed in 1937 by stalin. i can't find the name of this guy even on the web. anybody can help me?

Bruno Bettelheim had the nickname Brutalheim... That's who jumped to my mind first. But he is Swiss, lived in America and was a child psychologist... Maybe a Russian accaintance of his - wouldnt be surprised

I think you might be talking about Wolf Messing, but I dont know a lot about him. Ledgend says he walked past stalins guards unchecked and into his office to demonstrate the powerful uses of psychic abilities in spies and assassins.
