Russian parents visiting UK for our wedding... Visa type?

I'm marrying a Russian girl later in the year (I'm from UK). Her parents want to come over for the wedding. I'm not which is the correct box to tick on VAF1. Should be tick "family visit" and provide details of both myself and my fiancee, or would it be simpler to tick "tourist". We have booked them into a local hotel.

Also, I hear that we should allow six weeks for processing, do you agree with this time frame?

  1. it should be the family visit, so that you can sponsor them. otherwise they have to show that they can support themselves. there is a new law now that the sponsor is liable to the applicant...

  2. It has to be tourist, they will have to take the invitation of wedding with them though along with hotel bookings, bank statements ( or ur details if u are sponsoring them).

Congratulations in advance & good luck.
