  1. We could do what the Chinese do, send an old plane with a lousy pilot up to intercept and crash into it.

  2. Dont worry we do the same thing to them and china. Just getting back to cold war times

  3. Didn't catch that story. But, their electronic intelligence vessels from the Cold War days appear to be back. One of them was spotted in waters off Okinawa, carrying out electronic surveillance operations about two days before things kicked off in Georgia. But, if they are the old "Graf" series ships designed to look like fishing trawlers, they are ancient vessels indeed.

  4. I haven't heard about this particular occurrence but the Russians seem to have a habit of doing this. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tupolev_Tu-... Scroll to the bottom of operational history and you'll see quite a few times where fighters have been scrambled due to Russian bombers.

  5. Yes, it is Putin's way of conveying his declared return of the Soviet Union. He really should have had something other than useless antique aircraft before he did it though. Russians are rolling their eyes and Americans all have stomach aches from laughing so hard. When you're a hard core Communist, little things like threat assessment are unnecessary as it is the symbolism that counts.

  6. I read something like that.  I think they're just rerunning old Cold war routes.  Not cool at all but not a major provocation either.
