I am planning on getting a baby russian tortoise. I will give an indoor and outdoor enclosure. my friend said he can lend me a 35 gallon tank for it for now while it's young. but I have heard tortoises can get stressed when in tanks. is this true? I am planning on building a tortoise table. since it is the summer I will keep the tortoise outside all day. "but bring it in at night because it is a baby" so would the tank be ok for just nightime?

  1. i have mine boxed at night time and they are fine with that, a 35 gallon tank will be fine for night time use the tortoise should not get too stressed and at least you know your tortoise is safe from predators and warm  while you are sleeping, but it is better to build a tortoise table for those winter months as tanks do not have enough air flow for tortoises and can become too humid, a tortoise need fairly dry environment, but just for night use it is OK.

  2. you can leave it outside but you have to make it so predators cant eat him and you have to make it escape proof  and you cant keep him in the sun all day i did that with one of my red foot males and it died. At night you can put him in a tank
