  1. There is nothing wrong in helping an ally. But you have to take it an a reasonable perspective. First of all, who started the conflict?. It was Georgia. Russia's military actions were in response to Georgian army's attack in Osetia, that killed thousands of civilians (many of whom were holders of Russian passports) and many Russian peacekeepers. Let me ask you this. If the victims happened to be American citizens, what do you expect the US would do?. Simply stand and do nothing?. And if the US responded with a military action, would you criticize and condemn that action?.

Furthermore, if your ally is the one responsible for starting a war, would you act to defend your ally?.

And never forget that Iraq was an American ally during the Iran-Iraq War of the 1980's. The US supplied weapons and fighter aircrafts to Saddam Hussein that were used against the Iranians. But then, the US invaded Iraq decades later. Is that the way to treat an ally?.

Also, remember Kosovo. It was a separatist Serbian province that wanted to be an independent state. The US militarily intervened against Serbia to gain Kosovo its independence. Now Kosovo is independent, just what the US wanted to happen.

And now, Osetia and Abkhazia wanted their own independence from Georgia. But why did the US sided with Georgia on this issue, a position totally opposite to what it stood for in Kosovo?.

  2. The US don't have the strength to aid them and an all out war isn't the solution.

A confrontation with Moscow would be absolute stupidity.

  3. I agree.  I have never heard of Georgia before.  I thought they invaded the US, as a matter of fact.  If we went to help them out, we'd p**s off a major world power and I'm sick of the US sticking their nose in everything anyway.  Why not let everyone else kill themselves and eachother, as long as they leave us out of it...

Maybe Russia is trying to provoke us.  I'm still in college.  I don't want to get out to WW3 or have to enter the service.

  4. It looks to me to be much closer to Europe.  The US doesn't even have access to the Black Sea.

Why would the US have supported Chechnya anyway?  Just a bunch of militant Muslims blowing things up and killing civilians like every other Islamic movement demanding their own nation by taking someone else's land.

  5. ARE YOU SERIOUS... CHECHNYAN REBELS SUPPORT AL QAEDA...

    You stand by them?

    WOW

  6. Yes, we should get involved.

"Get Real":   Georgia was battling separatists in South Ossetia.  Why don't you talk about what those separatists -- funded by Russia -- have been doing?

  7. I think you are not well informed.

"If you’ve never heard of South Ossetia it’s understandable.

This tiny, mountainous region in the Republic of Georgia, population only 70,000, considers itself independent from Georgia and lives that way, with its own secessionist government. Most of its citizens, ethnic Ossetians, want to be reunited with Ossetians in Russia; many of them even have Russian passports and use Russian money.

The South Ossetians have held two referendums on independence but no country in the world has recognized their vote.

Now, South Ossetia is engulfed in fighting, refugees are fleeing north to Russia and the international community is scrambling to avert a wider conflict."

If the majority of people want to secede, why not? The Western countries recognized Kosovo's independence. Now it is time for South Ossetia's independence.

  8. Did you know that a month ago U.S. troops were training the Georgian troops for this attack into South Ossetia.

  9. first things first.. when did u become an expert on chechnya? do u have at least any clue at all about what was happening there? i dont think so, so why the h**l wud u mention tht in your question? civillian tortures? massive deaths? any proven facts plz? u live over the ocean n have even no idea where chechnya is and u are so sure tht u know how it all was there.. well ok..

as for war with georgia i dont really feel like sayin it all over again, iv said wht i think bout it in the question bout help in the war

ps and oh yeah how cud i forget.. i hate u americans >:( *evil face n scary scream* diiiiiiiiiiiiiieeeee

jeez wtf.. we're not soviet union ok (yeah i just admitted tht soviet ppl didnt like americans)

  10. Sure we go in there and WW3 happens. And our troops would die for what? To defend an ally? I would rather die for my dog than that.

  11. Reason is no one wants to start ww3, because everyone widely speculates that would be our last. Anyone stating that Russia could beat the US conventionally is out of touch with reality. The US is by far the strongest military in the world when put up against any other nations army. We would obliterate them. We would take casualties ourselves of course, but it would be extremely lopsided. This would probably lead to nuclear attacks from one side or the other in which case bye bye world.

It's the same reason why Russia would not directly intervene if we invaded Iran, oh sure they would kick up a fuss, but they don't want to get into a direct conflict with the US anymore than we do, because they know it would mean the end of them (as well as us).

  12. we should stay out of other peoples business. just like we should have stayed out of iraq. if we go into Georgia. we are going to start ww3 and Russia is going to kick or yaya. the U.S  needs to worry more about what is going on here right under there noses. murders rapes robberies. you name it . Leave others alone Enough of our people are dead now . if we go t help there will be a draft and quick .. we dot need no more of this . people are fussing now iraq has lasted too long and it has .
