Rusty Wallace Racing announce fielding their third car in Nationwide Series – Racing Update
Rusty Wallace Racing announced on Monday that they are planning to field their third car in the Nationwide Series for a partial schedule.
RWR will field back their old No. 64 Toyota Camry to compete in the 2011 season. They already have two cars in the field, including Michael Annett driving No.62 and the No.66 of Steve Wallace.
“We're very excited about this new addition to our racing program,” team owner Rusty Wallace said.
The driving responsibilities are divided amongst three NASCAR veterans, Sprint Cup driver David Reutimann, former No. 64 driver David Stremme and 2011 All-Star Showdown winner Jason Bowles.
“It's no secret that we haven't run as well as we would have hoped in 2011 and having a veteran like David Reutimann giving additional feedback should help speed up our learning curve,” Wallace said. “At the same time, David Stremme did a great job for us
in 2008 and I really feel like Jason Bowles has the potential to be fast at the Nationwide level.”
The team has planned to compete in four races so far with the sponsorship of Aspen Dental. The Syracuse, New York based company will act as primary sponsor for all four races. Aspen and RWR are together since late last season.
“Not only are we able to continue our partnership with Aspen Dental--a solid and growing network of dental practices,” Wallace said. “But we're also able to evaluate our race cars even further.”
The No. 64 Aspen Dental Toyota will first compete at Michigan, then at Kentucky, followed by Watkins Glen and Bristol events, while Stremme will appear mostly in these events. Reutimann will be the first one to appear at this weekend’s race in Nashville,
but the sponsor is still yet to make the announcement for the race. Additional race schedule for Reutimann is not announced yet.
Aspen Dental has various plans to activate with RWR including at-track customer focused initiatives, RWR owner’s multiple appearances on social and advertising media to promote Aspen Dental.
Larry Carter, the RWR General Manger and former Sprint Cup crew chief is also making his come-back in the Nationwide Series with No.64. He will be handling the pit box for the limited race schedule.
RWR is a NASCAR racing team owned by former NASCAR Winston Cup Champion Rusty Wallace. The team is currently only limited to the Nationwide Series with its three teams. They have some of the most talented stock car racers including Michael Annett and Steve
Wallace.
Aspen Dental is a United States based dental services company that has a huge network in 22 states with its 300 dental practices. The company provides general and cosmetic dentistry and denture care.
