Rusty Wallace comments about Ryan Newman!!!?

What do you believe the reasoning for Rusty 's comments that Ryan Newman was "fired" and not a mutual parting of the ways???

Rumors still flying about this one.....is it due to them not getting along when they were team-mates before Rusty retired in 2005??

Please no "bashing".....

  1. I haven't been home all day and I must have missed it. I will add that Rusty had no lost love for Ryan. When Rusty was still driving and Newman was winning all the poles and wins Rusty was irritated that Ryan and his crew chief Matt Boreland would never share notes with him and Larry Carter(Rusty's Crew chief). It wasn't just with Rusty it was Brendan Gaughn when he was in the #77 and when Travis Kvapil was in the #77. Its seemed to me(and I'm very biased because I was a lifelong Rusty fan) Ryan was not a team player. That's just my thoughts on it and following the #2,#12 & 77.

  2. who cares, rusty shouldnt even opened his mouth....serioiusly what does it matter if they are parting ways of mutual agreement or not, they wont be together as of 2009, he shouldve just been analyst and kept it professional

  3. sounds like rustys just trying to start c**p just like most jornalist and news people do

  4. Rusty is as big a mouth as Charles Barkley. Why say something in public when he doesn't have anything at all to do with it?

  5. It's possible Dianne but then again Rusty and Roger are very close so it just may be true.  Good point.

  6. I HEARD RYAN SAY HE HAD PLENTY OF OFFERS !!!!!

getting away from penske may get him more fans!

  7. Rusty kills me, I never know what to believe when he opens his mouth. Interesting analogy, though.

He's known Roger for a long time, so maybe he's right.

If Newman was wishy-washy about whether he'd return or not, maybe he was given his papers, ya never know..

  8. You beat me to it, I was going to ask the same question. I don' t think he was fired.  I think he wanted out.  He is not running well and hasn't for the past couple of years.  He wants to go somewhere where he can perform to his capabilities and Penske wasn't doing it for him.

As for Rusty Wallace's comment, I didn't know there was some bad blood between them, I don't see Ryan not geting along with anyone he is such a nice person.  But you never know I guess.

  9. In all honesty Newman is a little brighter than your average driver which was one of Penske's dream child ideas for replacing the long lost Donahue. Newman fit the bill except for size--his linebacker size limited him to pretty much to NASCAR. I think Rusty knew all this and could not help being jealous that the new kid was the bosses favorite. Maybe he can explain it with the draft-o-matic next time he is on the air how Newman won the Daytona 500 just ahead of getting fired.

  10. I kinda thought the same thing,it said he was" let go".Rusty has never liked Ryan,I 'm sure he was probably jealous at first.I hope Ryan finds a good team and has many years of success.
