Rustys Bar upsets Vicarage Heights in 480m Grade A1 Heat at Newcastle on Jan 17
Vicarage Heights, was supposed to deliver a cracking performance on the day, as he was rated as the favourite with the odds of 2 to 1.
However, Rustys Bar, the son of Ballymac Kewell out of Rustys Rachel, outperformed him, winning the 480 metre long Grade A1 heat of the Williamhill.com Stakes. With the first prize of £118, the contest held at Newcastle on Tuesday evening, January
17, 2012.
As expected, Vicarage Heights, ran superbly, but was surpassed by the victor at the final moment. Rustys Bar, trained by R Kirk, achieved a near line advantage, beating the favourite by a length.
The white and brindle dog was holding the odds of 3 to 1, as he began the action from the fourth trap. By covering the distance in 29.99 seconds, Rustys Bar gathered a lot of praise from his fans and connections.
Vicarage Heights, the son of Geordie Parker out of Skywalker Zoie, finished second on the chart. D Spraggon’s trainee could not sustain his momentum throughout the competition, and was overtaken by the champion. The black hound completed his job in
30.07 second, securing the second place by ¾ of a length.
Stay Sane was the one who finished third in the list with the covering time of 30.13 seconds. Although, he was not as quick as the top-2, the black dog ran on and ended up among the first three.
He was holding the odds of 12 to 1, but Droopys Maldini’s son out of Rathcuala Star was helped out by his consistency that guided him to a neck’s distance victory over Aurora Blitz.
Aurora Blitz, trained by M Walsh, seized fourth place, clocking the area in 30.15 seconds. Holding the odds of 8 to 1, M Walsh’s trained b***h, the daughter of Premier Fantasy out of Larkhill Megan, stroked out of fifth stand.
The last two positions, respectively, belonged to Centaur Chav, and Canny Caleb. It was a close competition, but Centaur Chav, sent at 4 to 1, eventually finished second last by a short head’s distance.
He made it to the wire in 30.23 seconds, just 0.01 of a second ahead of Canny Caleb, who was enjoying the winning chances of 9 to 4 ahead of the race.
Rustys Bar has sealed his third victory in five heats he has run so far. He holds a fantastic record under his belt, and will be a hound to watch out for during the rest of the season.
