  1. i just transferred in to the rutgers pharmacy school last month as a third year.

here is a link to most of the info you will ever need.

yes they still have the 0+6 and I'm not sure if they are going to continue the 2+4.

they accept about 200 out of high school out of 8,000-9,000 applicants. generally you need to be top 10% of your class, 1900+ in the new SAT, and that's what really matters. to transfer in you just need to take the PCATs, get above a 3.5 by the end of your sophomore year, and take all of their required classes.

  2. yes rutgers pharmacy offers admission for students straight out of high school and yes the 0-6 program guarantees admission IF you have a 2.8+ GPA at the end of every semester and that you pass the interview they give you at the end of your second pre-professional year. its really harder to get in. and its only getting hard by the year. every year only 200ish students are admitted. its almost impossible to transfer because spots are only open when people drop out. i heard each year there are only about 5 transfers. and transfers only happen after the second year and thats it.

  3. I'm not 100% certain as to how it currently works, but I believe it's still the same. I applied back in 2004 while I was in high school and it was a straight 6 year program with a guaranteed spot in the professional pharmacy program after 2 years (2 years pre-professional and 4 years professional). I'm entering my fourth year in about 2 weeks, and so far I'd say it's definitely challenging but nowhere near impossible.

It largely depends on your lifestyle and dedication to the program. Pharmacy students are known to have the most intense exam schedules and need to be time-management experts. The first two years are pretty standard, if not slightly harder than those of other majors.

My main suggestion is to seriously consider if you see yourself as a pharmacist in the future. It's too much work if you're not committed to wanting to be a pharmacist. I've seen people begin to really hate the subject material and to change their attitude towards the profession. Health care professionals should really love, at least a part, of what they're doing. Otherwise, I think it's just not as rewarding.

    I hope this helped.
