The former Heracles boss stressed that his side must learn from their mistakes if they are to achieve good results, while admitting that they played sloppy football after the half-time break against Erwin Koeman’s men.
Roda JC Kerkrade head coach, Ruud Brood, was not content with his side’s performance against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/RKC-Waalwijk-c40370 at Mandemakers Stadion on Friday, August 24, as RKC cruised to a 1-0 win over De Koempels.
The Dutch trainer insisted that his side was far from their best after the half-time break, despite starting the opening half brightly.
“I think we started the game pretty well. RKC played a bit sloppy, and gave us a lot of space to work around the ball. However, after the break, RKC played totally differently. In addition, some of my men played poorly that surprised me a lot”, Brood was
quoted as saying to soccernew.nl.
The only goal of the match came from the boot of Robert Braber early in the second-half, and Brood admitted that they marked the former SBV Excelsior star poorly.
“We were not marking http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Robert-c31222 properly. He should have been covered. This is totally a marking error”, the Dutch mentor added.
Despite starting the match brightly, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roda-JC-c40375 failed to convert their dominance in goalscoring opportunities. As the match progressed, RKC started to play better. Both sides remained deadlocked until the half-time break.
The Waalwijk outfit resumed proceedings impressively in the second-half, and took the lead in the 54th minute through Robert Braber. Ard Van Peppen provided a perfect ball, and the 29-year-old was in no mood to miss the target.
RKC continued to dominate proceedings after taking the lead, and gave nothing away until Krisztian Nemeth’s effort in the closing stages of the match. However, the hosts goalkeeper, Jeroen Zoet, made a brilliant save to deny the striker from netting the
equaliser.
Brood admitted that his side needs to improve their game if they are to finish in the top half of the table.
“It was not enough. We have improved, but it was not enough. We should continue working hard”, the Dutch trainer concluded.
Roda JC will host http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Willem-II-c40945 Tilburg in their next league encounter at Parkstad Limburg Stadion on September 1.
