KNVB appointed the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Netherlands-c753 new head coach, and several former stars have congratulated the veteran tactician.
Ruud Gullit, Ronald de Boer and Frank de Boer have open heartedly congratulated Louis van Gaal on becoming Netherlands new head coach.
The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Royal-95-c40387 Dutch Football Association (KNVB) has been looking for a successor to Bert van Marwijk, who stepped down from his position in the wake of the Oranje’s chaotic Euro 2012 exit.
Ronald Koeman, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Feyenoord-c39258 Rotterdam boss, seemed to be the favourite to lead the Flying Dutchmen at one point. However, the Dutchman ruled himself out of contention, and made it clear that he does not want to leave the Rotterdammers.
KNVB then had to shift their focus elsewhere with a long line of candidates including Marco van Basten, Frank Rijkaard, Gertjan Verbeek, Gullit and Frank de Boer, and at the end, the Dutch FA eventually opted to appoint Van Gaal as the Oranje’s new boss.
The 60-year-old tactician, who started his professional coaching career at Ajax Amsterdam in 1991, did not hesitate to take charge of the 1988 European Champions for the second time – he was in charge of the Oranje from 2000 to 2002.
Following his appointment, Gullit, Ronald and Frank de Boer all expressed their delight, and well wished the vastly experienced tactician for the future.
“Louis van Gaal, congratulations on your appointment. I wish you every success and happiness,” Gullit stated on his official Twitter account.
“Hi trainer, the KNVB [Dutch FA] has listened carefully to my advice. I had you tipped as the new boss, good luck,” Ronald de Boer was quoted as saying on the social networking site.
“Great that you have a second chance with the KNVB. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Brazil-c2858 2014,” Frank De Boer stated on his Twitter account.
Van Gaal, who is well known for his ability to re-build a team with young and inexperienced players, would be keen to impress during his second stint as well as make amends for his past mistakes when he failed to lead the Flying Dutchmen successfully at
the 2002 World Cup qualifiers.
