The former AC Milan forward confirms that he has yet to hear from the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Netherlands-c753’ new coach.
Ruud Gullit has insisted that he has the qualities to succeed Bert van Marwijk as Netherlands’ new head coach, but has also confirmed that the Royal Dutch Football Association (KNVB) has yet to contact him for the coaching http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684.
Van Marwijk, who led the Oranje all the way to 2010 World Cup final in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ukraine-c3032. The Flying Dutchmen crashed out of the competition from the group stages after suffering three successive defeats
to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Portugal-c2984 despite being tipped as one of the favourites to lift the trophy.
The former Borussia Dortmund handed his resignation in the aftermath of his side’s chaotic European Championship campaign.
Gullit is one of the candidates along with Louis van Gaal, Frank Rijkaard, Gertjan Verbeek and Frank de Boer to take the reins of the Oranje.
Although, the 49-year-old is not vastly experienced, and has not achieved a lot of success, he was not shy to insist that he has got what it takes to lead Netherlands.
“I know that I have the qualities to replace Van Marwijk as national team coach. I have often lost as coach, but people tend to forget that I won a lot as well, both as player and as coach”, Gullit was quoted as saying to Voetbal International.
The Dutch trainer went on to stress that it would be a great honour if KNVB appoints him as the new Oranje boss.
“There's nothing concrete at this point. The KNVB has never approached me. It would be a huge honour, though”, Gullit concluded.
The Dutch mentor, who has been without a club since being sacked by the Russian club, Terek Gronzy in June 2011, would be hoping that the Dutch FA chooses him as the Flying Dutchmen’s new head coach.
However, with the likes of Louis van Gaal and Frank Rijkaard, who have vast coaching experience under their belts, it seems extremely unlikely that KNVB will give the reins of the Oranje to Gullit.
