The former Chelsea man insists that the currently unemployed manager would not be able to repeat his successes of Barcelona, were he to take over at Chelsea.
A lot of speculation surrounded former Barcelona boss Pep Guardiola as Chelsea owner, Roman Abramovich, decided to terminate the contract of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roberto-c31294 Di Matteo a couple of days back.
In the aftermath of the widely criticised act, many thought that Pep Guardiola would be the man to take over the reins at Stamford Bridge, but it came as a huge surprise to everyone as former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 boss, Rafa Benitez, was appointed as the manager of the London club till the end of the season.
Benitez’s appointment on just a 1 year deal has added weight to the speculation that the Russian Billionaire dreams of luring the former Barcelona boss to manage his club.
Gullit however has different views on Guardiola’s appointment and thinks that it would be almost impossible for him to emulate the success of his time with the Catalans.
The former Chelsea star believed that in Barcelona, Pep had probably the most blessed squad in the history of the game and achieving success with the likes of Messi, Iniesta, Xavi and Puyol amongst your ranks, definitely made it a much easier http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684.
Ruud also pointed out that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604.
"I think what Pep [Guardiola] did with Barcelona is difficult to repeat," Gullit said.
"Also because he had the players there. You cannot do the same thing twice, especially not in another culture.”
"I remember with other cultures, they try because they think they have a formula, and it doesn't apply everywhere. No, it doesn't."
“I'm afraid [for what] the consequences can be. Publicly-wise. About Chelsea. Because I love Chelsea, I love the way the club has evolved; now you have to work hard to get your sympathy back."
Guardiola has been out of managerial duties as he wished to take a year off, after resigning from Barcelona. Great speculation surrounds as to where the talented manager will end up, when he decides that it is time to take up yet another challenge.
