Ruud Gullit joins the chorus of criticism on Milan for letting Pirlo leave: Serie A news
Former A.C Milan star, Ruud Gullit, has blasted his former employers for letting influential midfielder, Andrea Pirlo, leave the club during the summer.
Pirlo left the Rossoneri to join Antonio Conte’s, Juventus, on a free transfer in the summer transfer window. Gullit, who spent time in two different stints at the club, believes that Massimiliano Allegri and co will pay a huge
penalty for their decision to part ways with the midfielder. The Italian international decided to leave the Italian Champions for a new challenge after spending almost 10 years at the club.
The Dutchman believes that it is always important to get hold of your star players but Milan made a huge mistake by letting him go. The 49-year-old believes that along with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Zlatan-Ibrahimovic-c38029, Pirlo was the icon of Milan and these
types of players have major influence on the game.
While talking to the reporters, Gullit said, “It’s always handy to have someone like Pirlo in your team. Pirlo and Zlatan Ibrahimovic are two champions who can make the difference. I’d always like to have them both in my side.”
Milan have had a terrible start to the defence of their league title as they have picked up only five points from same number of games. Gullit believes that the Italian Champions have already started missing Pirlo and it will be
a tough campaign without him. On the other hand, the former Brescia star has made a huge impact with his new club and has played a huge role for them in leading the league table thus far.
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 manager believes that Milan midfield looks too static without Pirlo and the strikers do not get the final delivery on time.
“Milan lack pace. Coach Massimiliano Allegri has gone back to the Milan of Carlo Ancelotti – a diamond with two strikers. The problem is that there is no speed in their play and the ball doesn’t get to the forwards at the right
time.”
Gullit joined the Rossoneri from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/PSV-c40281 in 1987 and spent six years with the club to make 171 appearances for them. He rejoined the club in 1994 and made 8 appearances for them in his return.
