Ryan Anderson nets 27 as Orlando Magic ease past Philadelphia 76ers 103 – 87 – NBA Recap
The Orlando Magic made short work of the Philadelphia 76ers tonight with a 103 – 87 victory. The Magic didn’t have to worry too much in the game at the Amway Center as they dominated for large parts in an efficient display.
Ryan Anderson scored top scored in the game with 27 points. He was in sublime form and made it rain from beyond the arc, connecting on 7-of-10 attempts from downtown.
Anderson did a lot of damage to the Philadelphia 76ers early on, and the Sixers head coach Doug Collins believed that played a big part in his side’s demise.
"The start of the game killed us. We were passive offensively and then we missed a lot of easy shots. I thought that played with our psyche a little bit and discouraged us. And then (Ryan) Anderson) hit us with that red-hot start."
His own coach though wasn’t all praise for Ryan.
"He shot the ball great and that's fabulous, and now he needs to get back on the boards." Stan Van Gundy said, pointing towards the fact that Anderson only had 2 rebounds.
The power forward was helped along by a number of his teammates. Dwight Howard got his customary double-double with 17 points and 14 rebounds. Jason Richardson scored 14, Jameer Nelson and J.J. Redick scored 12 points each while Nelson also had 14 assists.
Louis Williams came off the bench to top score for the 76ers with 21 points. He also had 4 rebounds and 7 assists. Andre Iguodala scored 15 and Elton Brand had 13 in a largely disappointing showing by Philadelphia.
Orlando put their stamp on the game right at the start, with a 12 – 4 run. Afterwards the Magic continued to dominate the quarter, an 11 – 0 burst pushing their lead into double digits. That advantage was intact at the end, 29 – 16 Orlando.
Philadelphia put in a hard working shift in the second period. They had some good runs and chirped away at the lead, reducing it to single digits near the end. Orlando however responded with a 10 – 0 blitz to finish the segment, going into halftime up at
55 – 39.
The Sixers came out firing after the break and a spirited 13 – 5 saw them claw down the deficit to single digits.  The Magic were able to halt their momentum after wards however and with some quick buckets, finished up at 79 – 70.
The final period didn’t bring about anything special from Philadelphia. The Magic were able to handle whatever was thrown at them and the Sixers never got close. Orlando closed out the game comfortably at 103 – 87 to the delight of the home crowd.
