Ryan Aston and Curtis Valentine take on each other in their very first title bout – Boxing News
Ryan Aston, the surging young British middleweight, will strive hard to defend his undefeated streak against fellow countryman Curtis Valentine, in a 10-round bout which will be held on July 7, 2012 and will have the vacant BBBC Midlands Area middleweight
title up for grabs.
The duo will meet on the undercard of the fight card organised and promoted by Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Boxing. The high-profiled fight card will be headlined by the IBF international welterweight title eliminator bout between Kell Brook and Carson Jones.
The showdown will also witness Kerry Hope defend his EBU (European) middleweight title against Grzegorz Proksa in a 12-round bout while constituting the co-main event. Yorkshire boxing fanatics will also see Gavin Rees and Derry Mathews take on each other
with their BBBC British and EBU (European) lightweight titles on the line.
Ryan, 21, has been in a total seven bouts and by his impressive pugilism emerged victorious in all. The young Dudley lad has nailed three of his opponents by knockout and therefore to some extent possesses a pretty decent jab.
This will be Ryan’s as well as Curtis’ career’s very first title bout and therefore an explosive showdown is genuinely expected. Aston recently shared his thoughts and excitement about the upcoming venture and commented that he is ready to grab the very
first title of his professional career.
Ryan stated, “I cannot wait to get in the ring for my first pro title shot. It’s been a dream year for me, I’ve fought on some big shows like the Kell Brook vs. Matthew Hatton card and the amazing Carl Froch vs. Lucian Bute show. But this is what all the
hard work has been about. I’ve been training well, I feel good and hope that this will be the first of many titles in my career.”
As far as the odds are concerned, Aston is being denoted as the probable winner as he boasts a flawless resume with impressive stats. Curtis, Ryan’s Saturday night opponent, has been in a total six bouts and was able to emerge victorious in four.
Curtis collected three of his wins by knocking the opponent out cold. The aspect that might create a bit difference and place the odds in favour of Curtis is the fact that he is coming from a knockout win over heavily experienced Lee Murtagh.
If Valentine successfully counters Ryan’s, also known as ‘The Tank’, southpaw stance he might be able to create an upset and gift Aston his career’s very first loss. The ring for the showdown will be set up at Motorpoint Arena in Sheffield, Yorkshire, United
Kingdom.
